Not to jump up on a soapbox, but it rankles a little bit when folks say 'you can't learn that' or 'you have to be born with that' or similar language. Your voice you are born with. But singing ability has to be learned and practiced. Angelina has put in countless hours of practice since she was 5 years old. That's how she won Norske Talenter at 8 years old. Being born with a great voice does not make you able to sing Gloomy Sunday with emotional maturity in front of a television audience in a national competition. That took hours and hours of work, in addition to the focus and drive that have allowed her to be poised for International superstardom at the age of 17. Nice reaction.

Angel D, you are a true Angelina angel for having a guest. Angelina was near her 9th birthday when she created her arrangement for this 1956 Screamin Jay Hawkins classic. Her emotional intelligence and being able to convey those emotions, set her apart as a singer story teller. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot* At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. This was the first song I ever heard from Angelina. I had scrolled past it for several days, seeing the young girl on the thumbnail and thinking that it might be cute but couldn't be that good. WRONG! I would call it impossibly good except for the fact that she did it. This was well before AGT the Champions. I have listened to her nearly every day since and now believe that the more you listen, the better person you will become. She's one of the finest people on the planet who can likely repair the most hardened of hearts. Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Even though she has been compared by many to Amy Winehouse, her major influence is Billie Holiday. Other influences are Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, and Adele to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered at age 7 and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, "Wow, what a rendition!" For Queen to respond to someone covering one of their songs is quite a feat since they rarely react to anyone. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity. Now 17 years old, living in Los Angeles, and currently signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. She first performed at this prestigious event in 2014 when she was 8. Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a poor shoeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. Robert ,as far as English goes. I would venture to say, even though she was raised in Norway... English is her real first language..l base this on two things. Just hearing her speak and l talked to a Norwegian couple at Portsmouth that actually said her English is better than her Norwegian. If you remember on Skavlan, she was asked by the moderator if she prefers to speak English, and she of course says, sure.

From the examples I have seen - it seems to me that before Age 12 Norwegian would be considered her first language and after she moved to the US on a long-term basis English became her first language. She wrote her book at age 9 in Norwegian (it wasn't until later that an English version became available) and the words she reads from her diary in an interview at age 9 that she wrote at age 6 were written in Norwegian (you can see them in a camera shot) - although there is also a video of her at age 5 speaking in English - but does hesitate on some words. Suffice it to say that Angelina is at least bi-lingual and probably tri or quad-lingual at this point. The other languages possibly being Farsi, Swedish, and perhaps a little Japanese. Maybe one of the other Angels that may have had contact with Angelina might know in more detail.

As I understand it, although Angelina attended a school that focused on music, that was for the purpose of learning instruments and that they recognized they shouldn't mess with her own well-developed vocal style from the time-honored path of listening to and emulating great artists of the past, from basically the time she could speak. From the reports I've seen, the only vocal instruction she received during her early development was to ensure she was producing the sound in a manner that was healthy for her vocal instrument.

Nice, but if you're planning on more guests, I'd strongly suggest a splitter so you can both get the full stereo sound - depending on the time the track is recorded, who it's recorded by, and other factors, you can easily loose 20-40% of the track's content.
