Simon is overly harsh in his criticism, but he's rarely wrong. His role was to make sure contestants were ready for the harsh judgement that comes along with being in the spotlight and to provide criticism that, if taken constructively, will improve the performers. And nothing thrills him more than to see a contestant work hard to prove him wrong. That's exactly why Daughtry is one of the best to ever grace the AI stage and is still going strong today.

I'm really old lol, 59 now, but I've always thought he was very hot. I loved him from the beginning, and I personally voted for him 250 times right before he got kicked off the show. I was heartbroken! I checked the message boards, tons of ppl had voted for him! None of us could understand how he didn't have enough votes to stay on the show! Especially when the other guy they called the soul patrol ended up winning. That was ridiculous. But it was ok. I've loved everything I've heard him sing. If you don't watch the masked singer, you need to check out videos of him on there!! I had already guessed who it was, after only a couple of songs. All of the judges loved him, but they couldn't figure out who he was, because they didn't normally listen to him, and prob didn't watch him on American idol. And btw, when I voted for him, we didn't have cell phones like nowadays. Only the cheap burner ones were out, and if the other kinds of phones were out, they were too expensive for me. So, I called on our landline! It was crazy! Have you seen him on his latest video? The one where he is singing about about Artificial Intelligence? He is all buff with a six pack!! Love him! And yeah, lol, I could see how he wasn't cute to you when you were 13 LoL.

I watched Chris’ audition last night. I can’t help but think that Simon knew the other 2 judges were gonna vote yes and Chris would move on to Hollywood. Simon didn’t want Chris to think it was that easy and voted no.

He made it to the top 5! That’s almost impossible for a rock singer on American Idol. If he won it would have ruined his career because he would have been told what music to make just like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood at the start of their careers. considering simon was very direct and almost harsh with his criticism he paused and thought long about that no and i think it was him trying to figure out whether the other two would give him a yes. He figured that indeed they would and to so Simon gave Chris a no just to keep him humble and to add emphasis to his criticism. If he had given a yes, his criticism wouldn't have had the trustworthiness it had with a no.
