Amazing what a good driver can find just by paying attention. An extra sound, smell, or vibration can hint you to bigger issues.

@@DauminiqueTheDumpTruckDriverSamsung Galaxy S24 ultra coming out in February will have 2 way sat com that can be used at any time not just in emergencies on the T-Mobile network. If you have an iPhone you're limited to emergency coms only. This service would be far cheaper than a dedicated satellite phone.

Yep this is what happens when you are in tune with your equipment. You know when something is off and not right. Even well maintained equipment will have something off from time to time. Glad you were in the right area to have the tire changed rather than on a busy freeway and it was much safer too at the yard.. Good work and a job well done for the day.

3:53PM,EST, from Somewhere in Pennsylvania. I lost a steering tire once. Abit scary at first until you get it slowed down and stopped. I was in the middle of the cattle shute in a construction zone which made it scary. Anyways, glad you're okay. There's no coincidences in life. God, your dearly beloved Aunt Mae, Karma, whatever. Someone helped you out. Plug it and use it for a spare for the trailer. Because you know you NEVER use recaps and plugged, patched tires on your steering axle! Don't use it as a drive even. Happy trails and safe travels. Oh yeah, it's Sunday September 24. When I'm watching this.

9:35 Audio was great until you restarted your truck. 9:42 As you started the truck, the audio diminished to around 30% with periods (as your head moved here & there) dropping out to an almost inaudible level ? You have a power connection problem with the supply cord to the in-cab Go Pro. Maybe it's at the cab end where you have something connected into the truck's power supply, or maybe it's at the camera end with the plug not inserted correctly, but it's absolutely annoying, to have the player volume set low, when your motor isn't running, to have to strain to hear, even with the volume up louder, as it comes & goes (almost dropping out when your head is near the floor, when reaching over towards the passenger seat?) Then when you next stop the motor when sitting somewhere, the audio is ear shatteringly LOUD again...!!!!

Good point, never had a front tyre blow, but also 2 axles at the front, which should make it more stable in an emergency. We call 4 axle trucks here 🇬🇧 8 wheelers for some reason, even though they've got 12! Great channel by the way, there is absolutely nothing like your truck on the road here 🇬🇧, or Europe I think

You should try and spread both boxes at the same time, i do it all the time here in Canada, i work in the oil field, it`s very easy to do and way faster, no waiting for trailer box to come down and then back up and lift truck box. spreading both boxes is the same as one, lift both boxes like you did with the trailer, start going open trailer gate wait for a few seconds and open truck gate keep driving until gravel is gone. the more you do it the easier it is, it`s all about timing the trailer gravel as to when to open truck gate. once you get on to it you will never do one box at a time. you are doing a great Job.

I just got both Michelin 385/65/22.5 steer tires on the truck I drive replaced last week, both were original when I got the truck new three years ago, I got a pair of new Hercules replacements which are rated for M & S, I’ve never heard of the Hercules brand but the guys at the tire shop in Ellensburg said the type of Hercules steer tires I got is popular with the dump trucks here, I’m hoping it performs the same or as well as the Michelins I had during the winter.

That is you're Cancer intuition when you sense something isn't right you get that gut feeling, we've got strong intuition some times its good to have sometimes its bad we are no so keen on taking chances. When you get a rock fracture in a tire yeah you don't want to be using it in a steer axle position after its been patched. Good trailer tire for ya you'd be able to run it till its to the cords on the trailer. The 426/65R22.5 tires we only get a year out of them I have the Yokohomas on my truck seem to handle well no point in buying expensive Michelins they all peal off like cheap toilet paper.

Also, in my experience, that type of steer failure seems to be from either turn while stopped or turning sharp or fast under load. That section of the tire generally doesn't have much exposure under pressure in other situations. It is unavoidable at times but something to keep in mind.

Good catch & glad you caught it when and where you did. While the happenstance was random, it does go to illustrate the point that even just a "Walk Around" before every load could be a life saver. Don't forget, you signed up to be a dirt hauler, not a daisy pusher. Now, "Keep on Truckin'". P.S.: Was that the same brand and type of tire as the other steer mishap? You may want to keep track of more than just tread road wear because, as we both know, Off Roadin'" is a lot harder on everything in a big truck. That didn't look like a street tread so, while it could've been just the way the rock chip was angled when you picked it up, it also could just be the particular kind of synthetic rubber that brand uses in that particular model of tire, or maybe just a bad batch. Keep an eye out and, if it happens again with the same brand, contact both the dealer and the manufacturer.

@@DauminiqueTheDumpTruckDriver, Yes, Ma'am. While you're too young to remember them, those rules were probably set by what Monty Python (a British comedy group) called, "The Department of Redundancy Department". As the vehicle's operator, you're responsible for anything that falls off your truck, as smokey and your insurance company will be only too eager to let you know. "Oh, you weren't allowed by gummint rules to clean off the bits or rock you scattered on the highway and ... ? Well its gonna cost ya ... ." Don't forget, "Its not a 'Job', its an 'Adventure'.".
