You missed a BIG mechanic of hammers. You can press q after the damage of ANY swing registers(if you miss,press q the moment the hammer stops moving) and it'll auto reload a bullet(namely the bullet u primed with. This means you should nearly always prime attacks vs NON staggered behemoths and reload the first shot. If done perfectly(very hard, especially with a team screwing with your atk speed) you only slam with one non charged bullet. Ez trade for an entire combo of primed swings(assuming they land). This also costs stamina and slightly stutters your combo(can help vs spinney,dash guys some times). I HIGHLY recommend using the forge exotic for that stam shield. If you keep hitting, you always have stam for priming, reloading, and swinging/slamming! I also run charogs crusher and extended clip so my slams are tsunamis of damage I'm here to help! Still a thing for sure. I still use it to this day and believe it's still in weapon move list

That’s hard to master as a mechanichs, but i know that the cons of this mechanic is that it slows u down a lot and it charges only normal ammo(as i know).. normal ammos are useful only for interrupting when u have nothing else and the jump slam.. so to me the best thing to do in case of missing ammo is to charge normally when u have distance from behemoth and reapproach with the jump slam

Inline reloading not worth the time it takes to perform. None of the top hammer trial runs ever do this bc its just not worth it.

Am a hammer veteran and I still be learning new tricks, when fighting against small behemoths always prime at least 2 of your attacks even if the behemoth is stunned and on the ground because they are small in size and some of the eruptions from the aether slam at the end of the combo would miss emm even from head too tail resulting in wasted ammo. Example of a small behemoth is “shrike”.

am relatively new to the game and i started with the hammer and i can add 1 small tip for new players to interrupt with taping right click (PC) 2 times or sprinting to the right or left and taping right click (PC) its really fast and way better than just swinging the hammer for interrupts . i will try priming my combos , i thought its a dps loss to it so i just fully ignored it . am glad you made this guide cheers .

Using the special will get you bigger waves but the cost in time will actually effect your overall damage output. Reloading during the combo is a net DPS lose. I had a few people point this out and confirmed with some very good hammer mains it is not worth reloading mid combo.

@@CalebWartayes, it does make the combo slower, the main problem is it is quite difficult to pull off this combo perfectly every single time because of the variable attack speeds.
