They keep refering to an "Altman 360Q with an FEL lamp", which was a not rated lamp by 250 watts, was not UL listed and would kill the socket and reflector. It was standard operating practice at the time. As well and at the time of introduction, every electrician was skeptical of the durability of a glass reflector. It had been considered on earlier fixtures but nobody had put it into practical use. S4 proved us wrong.

@Les - Yes, reflectors started to lose their coating after some hrs. at 1000w. It could be expensive with labor to overhaul these units.
