11:35 what's that knocking sound as he rotates the wheel? 🤔 It should be beautifully smooth and no knocks. Bound up bearing?
@JSmith198589 ай бұрын
I'm betting he has hammered, or pressed, in the bearings wonky and they're not parallel to each other and the rim, which might explain nasty noises. You would get inconsistent runout like this if they were, especially as it's mirrored in the rim and the disc. If there were runout in just one part then I'd say it's bent, except it's consistent in both. It is possible to get them really out of shape and keep going. I've dealt with the aftermath of someone getting it slightly cockeyed and just going to town with a hammer to get the bearing in

@fredmercury13146 ай бұрын
6:48 I'm not even sure what he's trying to do. For it to be grabbing more in one spot than another, it's either the disc or the rim warped. Remove the callipers and fix a pencil to something, with its point close to disc. Spin the wheel. If the pencil gets closer to the disc then something's warped. Do it again for the rim. If the pencil doesn't get closer, it's the disc that's warped, if it does get closer then the rim is warped (or the bearings are screwed). Takes a few minutes to do this.

'Rodors' are impossible to fix. A local tyre fitter employed an idiot who though it was a good idea to bounce brake discs off of the machine and bent them, as he did it to the floating discs on my RG. The first solution was to send them for straightening and it doesn't last long before they're out of shape again. They ended up being replaced

So the wheel he changed the bearnings in looks to be twisted. OK we will just ignore that. Let measure a pile of stuff and that has nothing to do with anything and pretend we got some sort of results which fixes a non problem to start with. 😂 we will swap one router from one wheel with another wheel because if both roaters have a different thickness the master cylinder will know this and won't apply the same pressure to the pads, because he's a Kent. Hey dave was all 4 rims fitted with the exact same brand of discs? Where they all fitted at the same time? Have they done the same laps or mileage? Did you check they wer all free floating and not rusty or sticking from lack of use maybe? Dell has finally lost the crown. 😂
@georgenegrics42749 ай бұрын
Did he check how straight that how straight that spindle is on the wheel balancer because it spins on bearings of the wheel balancer, are the spacers/clamps tight enough? The clearances between the spindle and spacers might be too big and the locking bolts could be spaced opposite of each other. In my opinion those balancers are ok for just balancing the wheel, but then the bearings could be crap even on a brand new balancer and give a false reading. I changed bearings on mine straight away because they were full of thick and dirty grease from factory and they wouldn't spin evenly.

Over 99% of this video is Moss just waffling on about nothing relevant to the issue. This guy just does not seem to know even the basics. The calipers share that same hydraulic pressure line from the MC...so they will equalize their movement against the rotors even if rotors are slightly different thicknesses. Pads can wear at different rates not only across the two rotors but also on each side of one rotor...again all handled by the caliper pistons & pressure equalization effect.
@markcdeyoung31189 ай бұрын
He over complicated the shit out of it with some crazy weird tests Matt the buttons on the rotor assembly could be sticking You have to keep an eye on them Sometimes they have to be cleaned out The brake dust and road gunk builds up in between the buttons and the assembly and keeps them from moving freely If they can't float to center The rotor is gonna bind against the brake pads as it spins I usually push the brake caliper in with my knee to collapse the piston (s) to see if they have any binding Sometimes a caliper just need rebuilt or replaced if They have a tendency to drag That is if it's not a warp rotor or crud on the rotor mounting face or too much run out in the rotor mounting face

Would the thickness of the disc cause the brake pressure to be diffrent

Jeez. Right from the start i was thinking just get a dial indicator. Measure for wobble sideways on the wheel. If it is unacceptable fix it or replace it. They probably cant be fixed. Do the same for the rotors, but replace them if out of spec. No way to fix. End of story. He has to waste time on unneccesary nonsense. All those wheels probably need replaced. @Matt-we7si9 ай бұрын
