I can't believe that last month I experienced a David Gilmour concert in Rome. Probably one of the most magical moments of my life and I'm still in shock. And when he did this song, tears flooded my eyes. The music, the lyrics, his voice, his guitar... He remains a legend, he always will be. There aren't many left like him, we need to take advantage of them while they continue to create this magic. Thanks for the emotional reaction!

@@Stewiealexander well, you know, I don’t think that English has a word for that feeling. At least I couldn’t think of one. We have the “lump in the throat” phrase. But what do we call that feeling kinda behind the eyes that tells you that tears are very close? Anyway, I didn’t cry, but I got that feeling.

This song... Was crying first time I heard it, now about 100 listens later I have teary eyes again, and not for the second time only. My gosh. Feels like... A final farewell. Hope it isn't. Such a beautiful sadness in here, it's both destroying me and healing me, both at once. It destroys my walls. And heals my soul. Man I dread the day that this legend will pass. Well, the legend never dies right, that's what they say. But man.... David Gilmour is the musical translator of my soul. Idk what I'd do without his music tbh.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful sad song. Beautiful reaction. Got the album in 5.1, and I got so emotional particulary on this song. So touching. Hope he still has songs and beautiful music to offer. It's not the end David, love you.

It‘s the final words that make it magic: „Time is a tide that disobeys, and it disobeys me. It never ends“ … it‘s like he knows his time is coming to an end, but he accepts it. Already 30 years ago on „High Hopes“, the very last song on the very last Pink Floyd album, the song ends with „the water flowing, the endless river… forever and forever“. So, it‘s another reference using the ever flowing water as a metaphor for a passing life.

Dear friends, you have expressed the thoughts and feelings of most of us who've been following David for decades. He is the one musician that transcends his craft, in my humble opinion, because of his humility and large heart. I met him and Polly once with my daughter in Chicago in 2016 and was able to express my gratitude to him for his body of work. It was a surreal moment for me. I have listened to this song so many times and cried, I've lost count. To me, it is the best track on the album and is already among some of his greatest gems. It has elements of Pink Floyd which adds another dimension, considering the lyrics, which reflects on time and its inevitable march over which no one has control while posessing everything that came before like the music that David gave to the world. I feel blessed to have seen Pink Floyd twice which is more than a man can ask for. You both did a wonderful job with this review. It was heartfelt. Thank you. ❤

Beautiful. This whole album feels like a reflection on his life. If you don't have the extended version, the base album ends with this song. Ue explores his generation, his relationships, his children, his lumps and bumps. And yes, reflective. That's a perfect summation of Luck and Strange. Personally, after listening to the album at least 30 times now, I feel that in this final song, after remembing and coming to terms with his life, he reaches...fulfillment.

Andrei and Dominika, I am enjoying your Pink Floyd journey! I see and feel how connected you both are to David, in particular. I hope you had the opportunity to see David’s latest concert in Rome or London. I am going to see him in November in New York City. I have been a superficial fan of Pink Floyd since the ‘70s, always enjoying their popular songs. It wasn’t until I retired and had more time to truly LISTEN that I fell so deeply in love with Pink Floyd and David’s singular magic. I MUST see him before his light goes out!

I admit I have a hard time with this song. I love it, and it is beautiful, but for some reason, whether he intended it or not, this song feels like a goodbye. And I'm not ready to say goodbye to David.
@bnjmnwstАй бұрын
He told Rick Beato he's not finished making music, specifically with this current band.
@grelchАй бұрын
@@bnjmnwst I know. He has said it at the end of his (and Floyd's tours) since 1984. And he's always done it, with a long hiatus in between. He gets back home, walks his dogs on the beach, and gets comfortable. It's usually 6 or 7 years between tours. I can't see him doing this in his mid 80s. We'll see, but I wouldn't bet on it.
@bnjmnwstАй бұрын
@grelch I think the difference is that he's aware of how short his time is, so he won't mess around so long the next time.
@grelchАй бұрын
@ I hope so, and he probably didn’t mean for this album to feel like his goodbye. It feels like one to me though. Im sure it’s not lost on him that the last line in the song is about a man standing against the tide in a never ending river, just as the last line in the final Pink Floyd album was “the endless river forever and ever” . I have no doubt that he’ll pop up with a song here and there, and probably a show here and there. Can’t see him “touring” again. Having said that, it wouldn’t surprise me if he does a short run next spring in Europe.

The musical video for Between Two Points should be next. We're not going to have David forever, as sad as that thought is. But it gives me hope when I hear Romany and how beautiful and impactful her voice is. I'm not sure I would say that I think Scattered is the best song on the album, definitely the best guitar solo, and that avant-garde breakdown, and the lyrics, I mean it's hard to choose a favorite on this album. They're all good in different ways, but Between Two Points is the centerpiece for me.

Pink Floyd were at their best when David and Roger complemented each other vocally, as both actually have a zero voice, but somehow an independence, which certainly led to compromises, but that was exactly what life was all about. Not only can you authentically be what the influencers preach; In real life, the equivalent compromise is needed. Since Sir David's political and PF-musical statements at the beginning of the 80s, I had the biggest concerns. Roger and David have built their own personal walls, which is certainly not something to strive for in life. There are enough musicians who come along Dignity and elegance age. For me, God knows, both of them don't belong. P.S. His current voice says it all if you really want to listen. Despite it ✌. PULSE was already a terrible fairy tale.

Notice how the keys copy the sound of the echoes. It's a tribute to Rick, David's great friend. The track was created from snippets of studio recording during a simple jam between Rick and David just moments before Rick's death. David then built this track on these few sequences. Incidentally, the video clip features Rick in the studio mixing with the other musicians. It's very nice and touching at the same time. If you mention Polly - David's wife, I would like to remind you that his daughter Romany is also involved in the project this time. Not only as a backing vocal and playing the harp, but she even sings one song herself - Between Two Points. It's a real beauty! First of all, Romany is incredibly similar to her father and secondly, she sings really beautifully. It's again touching how a legend in his own way passes the baton to a new generation. It's worth watching - I think you'll be impressed...
