Great Phil Regan ref :D. Phil had a good career with the Tigers, Dodgers, Cubs, and White Sox. He was part of a new wave of great closers in the 60's. He was a quality pitching coach in the 80's and 90's and even came back as late as 2019 as an interim coach with the Mets when Dave Eiland was fired.

@@TheTRUANTSlive Wait is this actually Bill Scheft that's so cool you were so good at making Dave's monologue jokes so memorable. Did you write "It's beginning to look like I'm not gonna get the tonight show" for his final monologue? That's one of my favorites. I love Dave's monologue style with your jokes because the synergy he has with Paul for comedic timing accompanied by music is so unique and great.

And the poor guy on the left in the blue blazer, told his wife and kids he was going to be on the Barbara Gaines show, and he doesn't even get to plug his new thing. For the avoidance of doubt, here are the top 10 reasons Dave should host a weekly - live - Sunday night talk show: 10. Stupid pet tricks - before they were eaten by immigrants 9. Paul Shaffer spent all his Late Night money on 'Ed Sullivan marching powder' 8. With Biden out of the race, the world needs another old man on TV speaking incomprehensibly 7. Promise Conan O'Brien he can have the job after five years, then give the job to Jimmy Fallon 6. New York city tax credit for citizens born before the Boer War 5. We rarely get the chance to see Jimmy Kimmel cry on national TV 4. Break the professional glass ceiling for straight, white, male muti-millionaires 3. Dave's son, Harry, keeps getting repeated missed calls from Paul Shaffer 2. Late Night interns are hotter than the mechanics at Indy500 1. Now that he's retired from NBC, Dave finally has a chance at better ratings than Leno
