He was abused, that was very clear. He protected a teen fom his father, gets attacked, and Green (who left an AH die, btw) punished him. This i can sort of understand, but still procedure should be followed. However, I hated Kerry for firing Doug Ross. Yes, he got drunk on his days off, yes he had inappropriate relationships. But at work he worked and he did a great job out of it. Saved a kid from drowning in a literal pipe. Saved a lot of other people. Got fired for saving a kid from a methadon-stealing mom. He went to Seattle and kept working and stayed in the field, apparently.

He would have to reapply again (or find an open PGY spot) but he would need Weaver's letter to do so. So he killed his ER career completely with that outburst. She was his boss because she manipulated him into yielding the position. Kerry convinced Mark to oppose Romano as Anspaugh's replacement and when Mark spoke up, voicing his objections per his and Kerry's plan, Kerry chose to betray Mark, back Romano all because Romano and Kerry had a secret deal -- he promised her that she'd be the highest ranked doctor in the ER over Mark if she backed him. Kerry knew deep down that Mark was the better doctor -- he just made the mistake of trusting her to do what she promised. Not only does Kerry think only of herself (giving herself a raise after firing Jeanie), but she is very manipulative and will throw anybody under the bus to save her own ass (ex. when she left her beeper in the bathroom during an emergency and blamed others when she was at fault).

I just saw this episode. In the first part, Malucci saved a guy who got stuck in the elevator with him (he behaved as cocky as usual but stayed focused and did well), and later on he was really hurt by being fired, claiming he should have seen the signs (something about a mediastinum) and Chen tried to lift him up telling him this might blow over. The thing with Benton's nephew, that was a serious problem, unlike this. Not to mention that Kovac once had sex in the ER when he was on duty with a patient’s mom in S9E4 and he didn’t get fired. Dr Green also had sex in the ER during the first season and didn't get fired either. As for the last part, if there’s nothing left to do, I can’t blame him for blowing some steam before leaving, and unfairly calling names, but at this point what difference does it make? I'll miss the guy. I think his character's storyline deserved a better approach. 😒And if you've seen the gag reel, you should know that Laura Innes and Erik Palladino had a fun time filming this episode. 🤣

Playing devil's advocate, Malucci wasn't a bad person or doctor for the most part. He had his good moments. Examples like when both John and Lucy were stabbed he showed his best, talking to a patient to practice safe sex in order not to get HIV from his partner despite that they didnt want him to, and especially protective of his patients who were children being abused by their parents. This I saw as personal for him which may have implied he too was abused during his childhood. Id would have liked to have seen more of him and his background explored. Unfortunately, due to his bad habits of speaking with his foot in his mouth way too many times like what he said about Benton's nephew(rightfully being punched for it by Benton), and wanting to have too much fun on the job is what caused him to lose it. Also, I'd would have liked if a character from the show ran into him, and found out how he was doing.
