20 years of marriage to my first and only love ended 7 years ago and this song still says how I feel. Brings tears to my eyes every time but still have to hear it. Hind sight is 20/20

Ive not had a relationship that long but, my friend, i feel for you there... Being drunk again and wishing for my only love, this song resonates with me just the same. Thanks Dave

6 year point is where this song sprouted legs which 2017 when i caught the guy~boy she had been cheeting on me with, He just showered n was sneaking out of the home just built to my wifes specs via me n my family ~yeah locked him in under home and went into my home with flowers and 2 half drank beers on my kitchen bar along with bong n clouds from said bong n steam from my new masterbath. and my dances out in wet all happy until she opened eyes seeing me, tossed fowers at her feet then ran at punching n screaming HOW DARE I EVER THINK TO ACCUSE HER OF FUCKING OUR SONS BEST FRIEND !? [i hadn't said a word nor unlocked this minor boy to get how his version went yet] he had just showered in my room with wife. anyhow he spilled the beans crying then nervously laughing then i cracked, i stopped the cope that got involved \kept wife out of jail n off the sex offender list yet she turns this me makes up stories n destroyed my business all my entire family well turned my beach upside down n all to make me look bad n shitty n dishonest to say it never happened n i destroyed my family n well. i just am back to starting over in everything including sanity fuck aimee n that kid

I know how you feel... 16 years , 11 married , 2 kids. It’s only been 2 years for me, and the days don’t get easier. For 20 years she was everything...we were best friends first, and it took me almost 4 years for her to look at me as something more. Started seeing dmb in 98 and we went to many shows together. It’s been hard to even listen the last two years cause, everything comes rushing back. Lately it’s been easier and seems to help in a weird way. Anyway maybe one day I’ll meet someone, but honestly I just dont care too.

My longest relationship, my closest, dearest, lovely lady. I miss everything
Notice Dave's awe of Tim at the end of the song when he finishes with the last bar slide...awesome!
@marksimmons79067 жыл бұрын
Luke Neville I was thinking the same. He's fretting everything just fine with that thing on the whole time and then just works that nice slide right at the tail. Great stuff.

Neon shines through smoky eyes tonight It’s 2 am - I’m drunk again it’s heavy on my mind I could never love again so much as I love you Where you end where I begin is like a river going through Take my eyes take my heart I need them no more If never again they fall upon the one I so adore Excuse me please one more drink Could make it strong cause I don’t need to think She broke my heart my Grace is gone One more drink and I’ll move on One drink to remember then another to forget How could I ever dream to find sweet love like you again One drink to remember and another to forget Excuse me please one more drink Could make it strong cause I don’t need to think She broke my heart my Grace is gone One more drink and I’ll move on One more drink and I’ll be gone You think of things impossible and the sun refuse to shine I woke with you beside me your cold hand lay in mine Excuse me please one more drink Could make it strong cause I don’t need to think She broke my heart my Grace is gone One more drink and I’ll go Excuse me please one more drink Could make it strong cause I don’t need to think She broke my heart my Grace is gone One more drink and I’ll move on One more drink and I’ll be gone One more drink my Grace is gone

Neon shines.....through smokey eyes tonight. This lyric brings me to this version of the song because it runs through my mind randomly about a dozen times a week. It's one of those 'you had me at 'hello' kind of situations. I may need to attend meetings or something. I'm addicted to Dave & Tim.

Apparently (from an interview that Dave did) the song is about his father's passing but not wanting to name the song after his dad, he named it after his daughter and turned it into a story about a lost lover.
