A friend shared this song with me. My daughter's name was Ruby. She passed away in 2013, just before her 6th birthday. I like the song, but hearing her name repeated was harder than I expected.

I get such a kick out of Dave! When he plays, he acts like he surprises himself. He's an unspoiled Wunderkind who becomes fascinated when the music just EMERGES from him. He's so childlike in his delight, like "Wow, did I do that?" Priceless.

Since there really isn’t a lyric video for this song anywhere, here are the lyrics :: Ruby, let down your golden hair When I'm standing at the bottom of your stairs Ruby, I can see your TV on But the people there, they flicker and they're gone So let down your golden hair for me tonight Let down your golden hair for me to climb Just like an old time telegraph man I came here with a simple job to do 'Cause that news coming down the wire says that your head's on fire And I'm trying to get a message through to you Ruby, you ain't lonely yet With your crystal and your Russian cigarette Ruby, haven't you heard before Working is the finest tower when it hasn't got a door? So let down your golden hair for me to climb Let down your golden hair for me tonight Just like an old time telegraph man I came here with a simple job to do 'Cause that news coming down the wire says that your bed's on fire And I'm trying to get a message through to you, Ruby I'm that old time telegraph man and I came here with a simple job to do 'Cause that news coming down the wire says that your world's on fire And I'm trying to get a message through to you I'm that old time telegraph man and I came here with a simple job to do 'Cause that news coming down the wire says that your world's on fire And I'm trying to get a message through to you

This is all abt great roots music. Brought round again, w/ such individual approaches, of course that voice of Gillian's, which will b talked abt long after she's in the great beyind. And Dave is a 1% guitar player, arranger. And not 2b copied; a master of dissonance, and or atonal little flourishes. And that very deep harmony helps make it unique Class, talent, taste, individuality. Who was the dumb-dumb who made a comment about Gillian's hair?! Gillian and ppl of this ilk are way beyo d hair and appearances. This appeRance thing has screwed up so mNy lives. Shame on u 4 talkin trash abt such a talent . U don't ' get it ' , the music, the feelings, the message U don't even deserve 2 hear this type of thing w/that attitude. Why don't u concern urself w/ur own hair, lol. Some ppl have much higher concerns, and God bless 'em.
