I bought the steel version. Took some tuning, when it's right, it sounds absolutely fantastic.

Yes I had a bronze sensitone in the late ninties early noughties, it sounded great tbf, I kept breaking the claws that came with it, they attached the hoops (batter side) to the tension lug's. It had classic tube lugs as well. Really nice drum that would've been much better if I'd only used a regular die cast or triple flanged hoop. Agreed with the aluminium preference, I've owned various aged Acrolites and still own a early sixties Supra, great material for snare drums. They're my main snare sound that and a Signia Maple, cherry finish, I bought one recently for £250 off eBay. Lucky I reckon. Premier and Ludwig drums... Oh and pearl as well, not bad either are they, I'll never forgive myself for selling my blx years ago, ouch.

This sound better than Acrolite and the new lugs are better than the old tubes ones. Sound good to all tunings. I prefer It over the starphonic aluminium that I have had.

I've not tried the Starphonic but out all of the ally drums I have, this is one of the nicer sounding ones.

My next two--and likely final--two snare drum purchases are two different models from the new Heritage line.

Just got the same drum in mate, I freakin love it, put 30 strand pure sounds with the black wires, nice and dry clean sounding, actually the 20 strand that came with I cut down to a 14 strand for pop, and I use the 30's for rock, having alot of fun for sure

I might try some 30s.

Great sounding drum. I've got a few of the older Sensitones. Phosphor Bronze is probably my favourite of the bunch. Might have to try one of these new Alu ones sometime! Cheers Dave.

Ive always wanted to try a Phosphor Bronze drum

@@DaveBatemansShed They are great…but lack volume, compared to the TAMA SLP DYNAMIC BRONZE.

I just picked one of these up love mine is a tanish color finish about the throw I agree works fine but the steel one I have the throw is different duo-motion strainer better to me seams like the steel would have the more basic throw

So what's the difference between "mirror steel" and sensitone steel? difference in quality? Does it taste almost the same?
