I love the milestones in such a remote place 😊 I always worry that I will get lost in the New Forest and I appreciate your knowledge of this vast and beautiful area ✨🙏😊🙌

It is great that those Milestones are still kept in such good condition - retaining their little bit of history.

Thanks Nic and indeed a big thank you for not only your company & agreeing to the "collaboration" (!) but also for being so patient during the filming process (particularly the "tripod up & down" bits!) . PS. Logan only gave you 7 out of 10 for your "Boing" over that small stream!

@DaveFord well now, Logan's boing was clearly a 10, so I understand the 7 for mine! 🤣 Thanks again for the invite and introduction to the wonderful tale of Lovey Warne!

Congratulations on over 7K Subscribers! How nice to have a meet-up walk with Nic! I've not watched her channel before but I will surely do so, shortly. Logan has become a good boundary stone locator 🤩 Thanks so much for sharing your lovely walk and Logan's zoomies! ⏩🦮

Loved this! I go horse riding out from Bagnum stables and we get some great canters on the Smuggler's Road track, not to mention those fabulous 360' views. Interesting to see it from a walker's perspective. Thankyou Dave and lovely Logan.

Thank you. I imagine it would make a great place for a canter - nice & wide in places as well.

Nice walk Dave, with lots of good information. Ridley wood is very interesting and the video worked well with a guest. Most of my late family are in that church yard but I did not know about the Applebee lady.

An enjoyable change from your usual presentation with a walking companion Dave. I’ve already had a gander at Nic’s channel as well. I always wanted a Lava lamp as a child but have never owned one.

The Smugglers Lane in Ridley Wood was one of my playgrounds when I was a child and I lived at Turf Croft Cottage about 1/2 a mile South East of Ridley Wood. I used to fish in the Mill Lane Brook and catch lovely wild brown trout, some as big as 1/2 a pound. No fallen trees in the woods in those days though, they were soon recycled into logs for our fire after buying the fallen tree from the Forestry Commission.

What a fantastic place to have as a playground - you could make a few "dens" in there!

That walk was a little different, having the lovely Nic for company. I've seen her channel on the list, but never watched it. That will almost certainly change in the near future. Beautiful weather for you all, with a wonderful church to visit. I know Burley quite well, but it can get very busy at times.
@DaveFord

Oh yes, Burley can be a very popular destination for visitors - especially in the height of the holiday seasons.

Tons of great info and silly whippet tricks - Logan says who you calling old? - pollarding I had seen in Europe but never knew what it was called nor what it was in its origins. Thanks, all three of you.

I remember that old fire lookout at Picket Post. When I was a boy I promised myself that I would climb it when I was a teenager but they pulled it down before I grew into my teens. Shame.

Some great old milestones in that area you showed us. Very handsome. Was the smugglers route up from the coast? There is a smugglers path I recall between Golden Cap and Charmouth but too far west for your route. I would like to visit Porchester castle so may check out that video....
@DaveFord
@DaveFord 3 ай бұрын
Yes Jean, the smuggler's route came up from the coast -often from Christchurch (or nearby), I believe.

Ah.... that would be Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He is buried at Minstead Church. Indeed Logan & I visited his grave during our walk around the village over 4 years ago. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXi2pWOal7OJiJI
