Dave, looks like too much fun! Thanks for showing the prep. I like your plain terminology: fake rocks! Others use faux, carved, cultured, etc, but you just tell it like it is. Hope that cough is not occupational. Stay well!

@@DaveHendersonFakeRockVideos Stay well and away from the virus!
@DaveHendersonFakeRockVideos4 жыл бұрын
@@happy2b4 Ya know for almost 10 years I lived with a kidney transplant and a suppressed immune system... I never got any colds, flu bugs or anything. I also choose to keep things in perspective. The risk of covid, 99.9% survival rate, is much lower than other things that can kill us or make us sick. H1N1 virus when Obama was prez we didn't do anything. Anyway, folks want to wear a mask, cool. If they don't cool. I do wear one when I'm in really close quarters or when I have too to be allowed to go into stores... Thanks for the kind words and I say live FREE! Cheers, :)

@@DaveHendersonFakeRockVideos I was meaning dust. Speaking of that, a colloidal silica finishing aid (liquid) may be nice for shotcrete rocks or the coloring - meant for hot weather. One is "Day1" by solomon colors. Not cheap. I just did a small test mixing color in with the stuff. Better wear surface one assumes. May affect any tinting later.
@BozolipsКүн бұрын
Dave, why do the peg board? Why not use lath on the bottom side to catch the shotcrete? I don't know anything, just trying to understand. Do you plaster coat after or just paint the shotcrete
@DaveHendersonFakeRockVideosКүн бұрын
Thanks for the question. I use pegboard with dobies cuz to insure I get good encasement of the rebar inside the concrete. You could use lath with spacers to achieve a similar result though lath can bend and distort from the concrete weight and is a pain to use and cut. And yup we do a final texture coat of mortar always for final surfacing. Then painting/staining... Have more how to stuff with free downloads if ya like at davehenderson.podia.com Hope you have an awesome day! :)

I have a question: When you pre pore concrete in on some parts like the rib you put in the slide. DOES THE CONCRETE STICK TO THOSE PARTS THE NEXT DAY?? OR DO YOU APPLY A BOND?

Absolutely. Just wanna keep the surface rough. Never been a problem. 👍😎

Hey Dave, I love your videos! We are doing an owner builder pool with a huge grotto. We are going to pre-pour our columns next week and I was wanting to make two of the columns look like a palm tree trunk. I was hoping you had a video on making a palm tree but I don't see one. If you have made one, could you pass along some tips on what to use? I was thinking maybe wrap the columns in burlap coated in concrete to give it the rings of a palm that has been cleaned up. Just wondering if you have any insight. Thanks for all the great videos. Keep up the amazing work!

Hi Johnny, Thanks for the kind words. :) I don't have a specific video on a faux concrete palm tree but what I would do, (though I'm sure you're already done with it) is use a concrete sona tube, www.homedepot.com/p/SAKRETE-8-in-x-48-in-Concrete-Form-Tube-65470075/100321209 After that I'd simply texture the surface to mimic the palm tree trunk texture... @@DaveHendersonFakeRockVideos we used rebar and expanded steel then filled that with concrete. We didn't have a good concept on how to make it into a palm tree so we went with just a regular tree. Thanks though!
