In this day and age it seems there are countless drummers who posses extraordinary talent and skills however, many if not most miss the point when it comes to laying a foundation. Dave Weckl, apart from possessing extraordinary skill has always had the music first and foremost as his priority. He in my opinion is the most musical drummer of the modern era.

This is really astounding playing. Dave's skills are beyond reproach. The cymbal work at the end is gorgeous. I've been listening to him for a long time and he never disappoints, never puts ego before presentation and seems to never take his own abilities for granted. He knows exactly what he's doing, where he's going and where to exquisitely place each note. He is the epitome of the quintessential artist, fearlessly going where his own force of will beakons him; a complete connection of mind, body and spirit. He's beyond unique; he's one of a kind. A true innovator with his own voice who elevates and celebrates life through music and drums. He may be objectively equaled, but will never be outdone.

I just watched the Rick Beato top 10 metal Spotify list review video and I gotta say, for how metal is arguably “cool” whereas Weckl is nerd music for drummers the simple fact is that Weckls music is infinitely more compelling than any of that metal. I’ve always been a fan of drummer music and I wish I could share it with more non-drummers or non-musicians. It’s just a better kind of music than anything that is mainstream from just about any genre. I got into drums cause of Weckl and all these years later he gives me that good feeling like when I was a kid. Plus, I met Dave a couple times and he is always so cool. I love the guys in his band too. Great people with great talent that really play like a team. So smooth yet ferocious.

Steve Weingart is my premiere Jazz Fusion composer after Miles Davis. His music is mighty blissful and so rustic, but yet so powerful. He is highly technically sound but use simple harmonies to take you to another world. Too many musicians go for complexity and no relationship with their music to the listener just a snazzfest. Steve Weingarts music peacefully impacts the way you think when listening, you don't have to keep expecting chops or exhaustive progressions

Weckl is in a space occupied by none other, sublime. The left hand cymbal strike at 4:32, love it. Poetry in motion ladies n gents. Played the solo part oh at least 30 times now, shhezus H. Precision guided missile, never misses a note.

I love your style of music, and format, in which you play. I myself am a jazz drummer, really interested getting more into jazz fusion. im a retired Respiratory Therapist who started playing drums in 1962 then stopped in 74 and hated stopping ,but never really was a professional drummer ,but now ive watched everything you have put out on youtube and been playing again since 2015.Loving every minute of it. Beautiful playing. I used to see Dave play with a band called Nite Sprite at the Crazy Horse in New Rochelle, NY. Dave, Dan Wilensky on sax, their playing was much to fantastic for the place, but everyone knew back then Dave would go onto do great things musically. So thanks for the music.
