Always wanted a locking Floyd Rose guitar until I finally owned one. The novelty ran out very fast and mine wasn't even migraine pink 😂 Currently have 2 from a friend to fix up and keep finding excuses not to start the jobs. Ah well, this vid has reminded me of what lies ahead. Two ambien and a shot of bourbon should get me through it :) Well done Dave, you made it look easy sir.

Looked pale orange on my laptop screen! Those FR type vibratos (trems) are a pain to set up - only had one and got there eventually! I avoid them these days and will only have fixed bridges. Thanks for this video showing how much goes into setting up one of these guitars with a floating bridge.

I have a Dinky from (I think) the last year they made them in Mexico. Spoke wheel truss rod adjustment, SD pickups, 1500 series floyd. Got it brand new for like, $450. The one issue? The nut doesn't match the fret board radius. Maybe one day i'll put the 10in radius nut on it (even though Jackson claims the radius is 12in. Yeah, okay), but for now it just sits in the corner un-played. Dang it, Jackson!

This is the SL3X - I have a black 2HB version... the SLX. Had a lot of flaws but is a great sounding and playing guitar. I replaced the Floyd Special with a Schaller LockMeister and Duncan JB.

Check out the Red Bishop tool for intonation (for the nation) it works way better than "the key" and also works for Gotoh and Ibanez floating bridges.

Could be your camera or my phone screen but it looks like an old "first aid" solution we all grew up with in 50's and 60's metholate solution or maybe even mercurochrome, I don't think you can buy the original stuff any more. Both applied with a glass rod. 😁

They definatly still had mercochrome in the early 80s , I haven't thought about that in 30+ years! Hah! I used to get so upset when I would get road rash from skateboarding or riding my bmx bike , or scraping myself climbing trees. Becuase I knew when I got home mom was gunna put that crap on , it stung and burned so damn bad lol.😂😂😂 Thanks for the nostalgia!

Genuine question. Why should the springs be straight instead of an angle? Is it just more unstable and tuning suffers as a result? Cool guitar, though! I like really bright colors on one.

the outer strings have more tension doing all or most of the work, center spring is really doing very little, if anything

I hate to break it to you Dave, but I have original paperwork from Floyd Rose themselves, that show the 3 trem springs oriented with the two outside springs on an angle and the center spring being straight! It’s always bothered me that you tell everyone that this is ‘incorrect’. Lol Love the channel, been a faithful viewer for at least 10 years!! 🤘😎🤘
