I worked in a biker bar doing sound. The owner of the bar told me a story about getting his ribs broke by Coe. It happened when Coe was playing and Big Mike was drunk and went up to the stage demanding him play a certain song. He said the stage apes knocked him down then David jumped off the stage and stomped his boot in Mikes ribs. He said how many people can tell u they got their ribs broke by David Allan Coe. All I could say is that priceless. Lmao. Big Mike was a big outlaw biker. He was proud to have had his ribs broke by Coe. Props to Big Mike owner of the Wizard Biker bar. 🤘🤘🤘and to Coe. I hate new country but love the old outlaw stuff. Like I saw another comment say how outlaw and punk rock are one in the same.

i actually get dac.if you really listen to him,he has the right idea as harsh as he is.it appears that he works very hard,takes his craft very seriously,is proud of his work and just doesnt want to be fucked with.to me he's just like any artist as far as his approach goes but the subject matter rubs people wrong,and it is they who are backward and shallow.he utters a few words that are politically incorrect so they dismiss him.his body of work speaks for itself.very talented by any standard

Been listenin to DAC since I was a kid, and was heavy into GG Allin in my teen years all the way up to my early 20's. I'll agree with scumgod that outlaw country and punk rock are almost one in the same not sound/style wise but definitely the attitude. Outlaw is outlaw no matter what the genre. And nobody did it better than David Allan Coe and GG Allin respectively.

he's not saying he's gay. he's just being incredibly objective, honest, sincere and candid in supposing that (with the assumption that homosexuality is psychological rather than physiological) maybe the reason he likes small breasted women is because of psychological effects of his time in prison on his subconscious: specifically his sexuality. he never says he's gay or likes men. he just mused that that his mind may have been perverted, slightly warped by unique and traumatic experiences to yield his somewhat uncommon sexual attraction, or the lack there of. he didn't even say any of it was conscious and certainly doesn't seem like a homosexual, or the type to not own up to it if he were one, he just speculated on the state of his subconscious. It seems like a genuine, frank, even Freudian analysis and is perfectly valid, and feels even a little unexpectedly profound coming from him

David takes Credit for EVERYTHING that has been a Success. Even though he had nothing to do with it. Even when we walked out after a Show in Dallas TX 1988, and found David's Bus and Semi had been Repossessed. It was the perfect excuse for 2/3 of the Band and Road Crew to Quit and move on.

@scumgod13 I am thinking 75-76 for this DAC Interview, but could have been 77....Midnight Blue was a Channel Z thing...Channel Z was what you got for "cable" when cable first came out. It was only at night, and only about 4 channels. Midnight Blue was "Blue"....very "Blue"...lol. I had Channel Z in my very first apartment.

David could never keep a story straight. Just like the Bullshit about his Stretch on Death Row, which was later cleared up by the Warden at the time. As per David Allan Coe Bullshit lies.
@sevinstorey4365
@sevinstorey4365 4 жыл бұрын
David Allen Coe never went to prison he may have been in a reform school a time or two or a county jail overnight a couple of times for drunken disorderly but he never served any stretch of an extended prison stay and the research is there if you just take the time to seek it out it’s all a front or a backstory to try to help him break into the music business at the time he was trying to break in, now merle haggard on the other hand was definitely a convict and Served time. But the mysterious rhinestone cowboy as he called himself when he first got to Nashville never served any amount of prison time worth noting, was never ever on death row, and it was all a bunch of BS to try to sell to record executives to intimidate them and break into the music business with this crazy backstory. And besides being full of himself and full of shit he is definitely not a genius of any sort, there are tons and tons of people who write songs way better that you’ve never even heard of so the six songs that he wrote does not qualify him to be put into the genius category, unless you consider his lying capabilities as genius. And do not respond with I am just being a hater of David Allan Coe, I actually liked his music at one time and I guess I still do but knowing the truth about his past definitely put a spin on how I looked at who he really is.

@Mamaluvsmambo thanks. I'm thinking he stayed out of prison from here on out. I saw him about 15 years ago and was a bit disappointed because he played none of his own songs. He did Elvis, Johnny cash, even a horrible cover of Hanks cold,cold heart. Bikers were getting up and walking out. Man, maybe he just had a bad night. He sang Labamba cause he had two Mexican guitarist.

nowadays theyd call him a saint but back then theyd call him a real sinner .i know hes had a very tough childhood that shaped him to be the way he is. but his heart aint clean from the things he says. talking about women in such a digusting manner when back then no man dared to even say a swear word on tv . i honesly felt disgusted by the songs he sang on this show, the interviewer himself wasnt straight either at all, he was probably somking heavy drugs.
