Switched cameras and accidentally flashed him, nearly got smashed on the head with DAC's rebel flag guitar, then escorted out of the venue by his security. A longtime friend of mine opened shows for two years, he would throw tantrums firing everyone. Still a very talented song writer and performer, but yes an asshole.

I would say a great singer but honestly it doesn't seem like he took singing that seriously esspesily because it's rare to find a good live version of anyone of his songs. However definitely a top three song writer by far some of the most country, country songs to ever be written with lyrics that were just pure genius.

For real, and it's a shame because I think it gets in the way of his music. Everyone knows on some level he's full of shit and that has damaged his credibility as an artist. A lot of people see him as a novelty, or a clown, or a phony, but he has made some great music. Unfortunately it's always overshadowed by a lot of his less than savory antics.

I saw this dude live at a county fair in Texas around 1999 to 2000. Of all the shows ive seen of classic country and new country. This dude has damn good backing musicians and still sounded great. That old dude got up there and went start to finish for 2 or more solid hours. He also does the best damn impersonations...Cash, Jones, Charley Pride, and Paycheck. He even took requests from country to rock and heavy metal. Dude was good.

At this time in his life you can tell the family features, I just showed my husband. Wow, my husband's looks favors this side. DAC said he bet on a dog named Dean Dillon and won $300. Dean Dillon wrote Tennessee Whiskey and DAC had a big hit and payday in 1981...later George Jones had a hit off that song in 1983 , then of course Chris Stapleton turned Tennessee Whiskey into one of the biggest recording hits ever !! This old boy I did time with went to see a lawyer because he said he had gotten too damn many tattoos. The first thing the lawyer asked is which tattoo bothered him the most and why. He said the one of my wife bothers me the most especially the things she did while I was in jail. That one is the biggest problem of my life. Now this old boy took a regular job after he got out went straight even did everything the lawyer told him to do because the lawyer said everything would be alright. The next thing is this old soul had to stay home from work quit his job because his lawyer had the wife put out got him custody of the kids and the lawyer would take care of the rest with a hot branding Iron at his office.

Yea..worked with David and his crew a few times. I worked in the country music industry for 30 years as an audio engineer. He is one of the worse musicians I ever seen in my life. You have to give him credit though...he DID write all of those songs that other people made number hits out of. He had a couple himself. After he got notarized for being the song writer. So I suppose all those years in prison were not so bad to him. That's where he wrote most of the songs and being a former member of the Outlaws MC he had a little protection just because.

I saw him live 5x in Athens GA... 2 of them WERE some of the best damn shows I've seen .. two were good and on was him w/ a guitar, no band pretty much... very personal and better than him at Billy Bob's
