Thank you for the fantastic interview. I usually shy away from interviews because it's so frustrating listen to the person talking, beginning to feel a connection to what they are saying, then the connection is suddenly lost when they are interrupted by the interviewer and pushed in a different direction. Bravo! 👏👏

He carries an innocence and a guilelessness that the world so rarely sees any more. It's refreshing to know that there are still people in the world like this. So many are posturing, trying to be sophisticates, or to showcase their sarcasm - and here he is being real and transparent and vulnerable. Just "wow!" I have tons of respect and admiration for him.

@Jiani B I can understand where you're coming from, I cant verify the info you shared, but neither of us may know what it feels like to struggle with an addiction or know how someone gets exposed to it in whatever form, but I think that what we can do is to try to not judge a person, or think less of them because of their challenges. One thing is for certain, we all have challenges which we struggle with. Let's leave the judging to God.

This is the strangest, most unconventional, most peculiar interview I've ever seen of a celebrity. That's why it works so well. No sound bites, just nice, long, beautiful, conversational revelations. Brilliant job! I feel like I really know more about David, especially how he feels. I hope he doesn't allow external forces, including family, LDS, and the music industry, to paralyze him. All I can do is wish for him the self-acceptance that he deserves.

The thoughts/feeling of inadequacy he mentions remind me of in the Bible when Paul had a thorn in his flesh, a messenger of Satan purposed to keep Paul from exalting himself so three times he asked God to remove it and God's reply was "my grace is sufficient." This is true. It keeps him humble and God gets the glory in his talents because he's not doing it for vain glory.

David, "thought is the enemy!" It's a matter of understanding the distinction between psychological thought as the enemy, and non-psyschological thought which is not the enemy. The meditative brain aware of the latter distinction, is the operation of intelligence or discernment, seeing the rope for the snake. A quiet brain, rid of the latter "enemy" is reason for another dimension of Love, Intelligence, and Compassion operating in one's life. "I" understand the latter to be the "Source" of all that is... Love & Peace,, L.

Why do people think he’s gay? How can you tell? Some are really good at concealing it I guess because I can never tell. Unless when a male starts to talk, they have this idk lisp thing? Women are hard too.
@RichardBrennan
@RichardBrennan 3 жыл бұрын
You can’t tell specifically that someone is gay, but you can pick up signals that someone is in the closet. For most people their sexuality is just a part of their life - it comes up in conversation. You hear about people they are attracted to, are dating, are jealous of or rejected by. There is just stuff happening in that aspect of their life. For someone that is in the closet, that part of their life is a vacuum. There is no “there” there. There are no loves, or rejections, or struggles that you can see. It is all being covered up or repressed. You recognize the closeted person by what you *don’t* see - what’s missing from their life.

David, I pray for you and your family to remember where you were before this Life! I know where I was and I am so grateful for that! I also know that I am THE DAUGHTER OF A KING! YOU ARE THE SON OF A KING!!! REMEMBER THAT!!! FATHER'S PLAN IS THE PERFECT ANSWER TO WHERE WE WANT TO BE FOR ALL ETERNITY AND IT GIVES US THAT MUCH MORE TO DO. I KNOW, THAT IF YOU'D REALLY STOP AND THINK ABOUT IT, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT SATAN WANTS YOU REAL BAD!!! SO, PLEASE DON'T LET HIM WIN...THE WORLD NEEDS YOU SO MUCH MORE!!!FINALLY, I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU A GIFT! MY GIFT TO YOU IS MY TESTIMONY! I KNOW THAT JESUS IS THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE! I AM SO THANKFUL FOR THE HOLY PRIESTHOOD OF GOD! AND FOR THE HOLY GHOST! We are so blessed to have it here on the Earth!!! OUR SAVIO R SUFFERED and DIED for ALL OF US!!!l Remember that! You are a good man DAVID!!! IN my opinion, YOU are meant to be a great CHILD OF GOD WITH AN INCREDIBLE GIFT OF SONG! FOR ALL THE WORLD TO HEAR (I have to say that I miss your earlier songs. They would make my soul SOAR!!!) ❤ ONE LAST TRUTH... The scriptures tell us that we can ONLY SERVE ONE MASTER... JESUS or SATAN!!! I CHOOSE JESUS!!! HOW ABOUT YOU??? I know that prayer works. WE just have to remember that GOD answers our prayers in his time, when he knows we are ready for the answer! I CAN TESTIFY OF that and everything else I've shared!!! AGAIN DAVID, YOU ARE LOVED! DON'T EVER FORGET THAT! I PRAY THAT YOU WILL FIND PEACE IN YOUR JOURNEY THRU LIFE AND THAT SATAN WILL LEAVE YOU ALONE! But it's all up to US, OUR FATHER, AND JESUS!!! I LOVE YOU MY BROTHER and I am a listening ear if you need it!!! HANG ON, IT'S SO WORTH IT!!! I TESTIFY, that EVERYTHING I have shared with you is SO TRUE!!! IN the scared name of Jesus Christ...AMEN MERRY CHRISTMAS WITH LOVE!!! ❤❤

Guys, please stop saying he needs to be gay, be comfortable in his sexuality, when that's not at all what he could be talking about. People aren't their sexuality, that's not all they are. Having a relationship doesn't make you better than being single. Him being Mormon is his own decision, since he's an adult. Not being married at 28 is also his decision. Don't belittle his life because it doesn't fit with your timeline.

If I may make an observation: I understand and can empathize with the interest into David's character and demeanor, but it's not our place to project, hypothesize, diagnose or conclude what he may or may not be going through. Think of the Golden Rule: _Treat others the way you want to be treated, with love and respect._ How would you feel if your every word and mannerism was analyzed, scrutinized and discussed out in the open for comparison? One could argue that David is famous. He signed up for this. He should have thought about that before stepping into the limelight. Honestly, I don't think David ever cared for fame. I think he just loves music so much and God gifted him with such an amazing voice that he wants to share that voice with everyone in the world to stir souls to a good place. What society calls anxiety and depression I attribute to spiritual warfare. David, myself, all of us are under constant attack for our souls. Satan and his minions want us distracted, divided and conflicted so as to be deterred from the good in this world. Let’s strive to be better than that. If we’re worried about David’s well-being, then we should pray that the Holy Spirit embrace and lift his soul, after all there is strength in numbers.

JP as someone who is a counselor and a Christian, I have no words. I know you probably didn’t mean any offense by it, but please be careful with what you are saying. Mental health problems does not mean spiritual warfare, demons, etc. The church has to stop preaching this message because it is causing more harm than good. If it’s spiritual warfare then we can just pray it away, and that is so not true. People need proper mental health treatment (as well as prayer).

he's a public person and makes a living off his notoriety. it is absolutely fair for people to comment on and conjecture about what he might be going through and why. it's so wrong when musicians and actors complain about the public's speculation about their life, meanwhile they live off of the publicity that fuels their career.

David Archuleta is a beautiful soul. if you listen to him instead of your own mind voice. you will hear that he said he was always alone, that he is quiet and reserved even at 11 has nothing to do with his sexuality or identity. he is hard on himself and part of it has helped him to improve. he has had depressive tendencies since he was little. passion in his music calms his hurts it frees him. there are so many people in situations like him. we should be more supportive. he is critical on himself. don't add to it, he is real and we can all go through this. and having "sex" as it were does not improve that. having a label is not always helpful but also hurt is real and his music comes from this.

I was depressed. It is a long process of introspection & long term therapy really helped. I am at a totally different place in my life now in a positive manner. You are so talented David Archuleta. Thank you for your music.

I suffer from extreme anxiety and mild depression, and therapy and medications helped tremendously. But my biggest salvation is an extremely supportive set of parents. I hope he has reinforcements around him, boosting him up and keeping him honest. Any good friend needs to tell him that the human brain needs the right set of tools and sometimes we are born without those. Medication is a tool to help you remain yourself and give a healthy quality of life. I’m so glad he’s honest with himself and doesn’t give in to the “other voice.” He’s got this.

David Archuleta, I hope you will read my message ! I love all your songs, especially "my little prayer", when you are singing on Temple Square (SLC), which reminds me of my mission over there !! The words of this song touch me so deeply ! You are awesome !! You are serving a second mission !... a great and inspiring mission, by singing ! You have a very beautiful soul and our Heavenly Father gave you the gift of singing, in order to share with us, around the world, your marvelous songs ! I'm so grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You are an inspiration ! May the Lord bless you. Such a good interview, I personally appreciated his openness and find him inspiring. It strikes me as the classic INFP struggle - EXTREME introversion (which other people can't understand), paired with a super strong need for authentic self expression and connection. I never followed him in his AI days, but recently found his newer music which I find amazing/inspiring/healing. The more he puts his own "voice" into his music, the stronger it is (and the better he feels about himself). Of course, I have no idea what prompted the interview and who chose the topic, but I kinda feel like he's saying he's ready to be back in the public eye: he's overcome a lot of his own demons and is feeling empowered creatively. I look forward to his future work.

@jrobert6916 4 жыл бұрын
praestant8 🤗 ....not true. You are in a long line of people who want David to be gay. My question is Why? Why does the LGBT community keep hurting people like David? Sorry. You are all wrong about David. He’s not available to any of the millions of men who lust after him. Have you ever thought about how very cruel and hurtfully mean you are? Don’t label people. Repentance will give you jolt like a huge earthquake one day, soon. I hope you understand what I’m saying. I will pray you can handle the truth when it comes. I wouldn’t want you or anyone in your community to fall off the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow God created, and your community claimed. One day you will KNOW the truth that’s always been “who David is” when he marries the beautiful young woman I’ve personally seen him dating. Do you really think he’s going to show his dating life to the world right now? Or maybe EVER? No. He won’t do that. Just like most SMART Entertainers, David isn’t going to be on the cover of any magazine, snuggled up with the love of his life being on the cover page of magazines, tweet, IG, FACEBOOK on “display” for all to see, to judge, to cry over (many fans want to marry him... he’s chosen his “light,” his “kind of perfect” 🌹) Leave the gay comments out of Comments in David’s rare interviews, and music videos. We all know David has a very big SHY protective and KIND heart. That’s why we all love David our Greatest Idol. We all fell for his heart when he saying “Heaven...” and “Imagine...” His heart has sung for all of us, for a long time, AND he’s easy to love. His heart now sings privately to someone very special. Let David have his privacy please. David has always had a plan to be married as he sings in “my kind of perfect...” He will follow God’s plan of Happiness which includes to be Eternally Happy.... married .... perfectly... like we all should be... (he won’t mess this up) 1. in the right place 2. to the right person 3. by the right authority 4. at the right time. He’s only 28. Focused publicly on his music passion right now. His personal life is his business. His depression challenges are VERY personal. They are not sexual. He’s not depressed because of things in this life. He’s discouraged about his Parents’ eternal choices. I know what those challenges are. He and his family have been through a lot of painful changes. David is adjusting very well, during a very difficult time when he feels how broken his family is. He’s trying not to take sides. He loves his Mother and his Father, and he is protecting their privacy very well. While doing this, he’s naturally going to go through depression. I know I did, I continue to work through my own depression for the same reason David is. I’ve been working through questions only God himself can help me understand. “My little prayers” are with David and his family. I hope he doesn’t feel that his (undesired) fame has caused challenges between his parents. They were under a lot of stress during, and just after Idol. David talks about this in this interview. David’s father was like any good Dad would be, managing David’s musical career since David was 11 years old. During Idol he spent months away from his wife and kids, to be David’s “chaperone” and “music teacher, critic” We all heard how he became a scandal during Idol. Yet he was doing what he’d always done with his Son. Sadly, “Guiding his Som’s career, he let it get in the way of being David’s “Father.” His parents were distant from each other. His Father telling David “You’re a star!” “You’re gonna make it big!” ... David feeling like he’s not good enough, as I’m lead to believe that’s the reverse psychology a dad would use to push his musically gifted son to reach higher ....would do, ...not realizing he was loosing David. David wanted to become “His own artist” as he became independent. I’m guessing that would really hurt a Father who had lived vicariously though his son.” For a while he lost David the musically gifted son, and his biological son for a while. They both needed a break. I will not believe David was depressed because “David is afraid to come out....” it’s NOT SEXUAL. David wants to be doing his own music. He had to tell his Father that to get free from him. I doubt that was easy in any sense of the word, for either one of them. I’d say there were many tears, prayers, shouting, and “silence.” All of this would cause anyone to feel broken and depressed. “Numb,” even “Paralyzed.” Leading David to many “My little prayers...” and moving to Tennessee to start a new life, finding his own kind of music. David is a beautiful talented soul, who’s had to go through some very big obstacles in this journey. It’s sad how Satan causes the most humble, kind, good people to make life altering changes. Especially in the entertainment business, the “public” constantly making all kinds of guesses about “sexual orientation” (because David is so very kind and sweet, like I said many people want to make a Family with him. (Yes. He’s said he wants to know, when it’s right, what it’s like to have his own kids one day, when he hopes will help him understand his purpose for being here someday. People have no right saying things about David with NO PROOF. Ya’ll make David be who YOU want him to be, and it’s very cruel, and hurtful. ...... think about it...Just like the mistake his dad did. David is back talking with his dad now. I’m sure communication is changed. David has step siblings now, who he’s said, “I have 4 siblings, 3 sisters and a brother... and oh, yeah I have 3 step siblings, I love them too.” None of this has been easy for him. I know. I’ve been there. David has been through a lot, believe me I’ve seen it. THANK GOODNESS he stays away from social media comments. So many times the “ G” word has been put on him. If he’d read what I’ve read, I know we wouldn’t hear any new songs from our AMAAAYYYZING Archie. He’d bee scared for life. Be kinder with your comments. Don’t judge others. You could really hurt this kind man. You have hurt him. His children someday will find these comments. Be careful how you judge others publicly. Please. Be more than careful. Please. People have taken their life (chosen death) for being “labeled” something they aren’t. Pleassssse be mindful about the outward judgements you make ....anyone in the LGBT Community who is doing this to David, or any other human being...needs to 🛑 STOP!!! One day you will know the truth. Blessings to you.

It is very clear that David suffers from severe depression. This interview had to be so difficult for him to be so vulnerable. I hope he's able to seek treatment (no matter what looks like) and get to the root cause. While it can be a hereditary trait there are usually overlying causes that intensify the root issue(s). In this interview it sounds like David is so insecure and suffers from low self esteem and lack of self worth. The good thing is he's not alone. Others (including myself) have been in this same spot and it can be overcome in time and with practice. I would hate for this to hinder his career because he seems such a genuine, talented person. He has so much to be proud of. Take good care David.

He should have a greatest hits album by now. Only my opinion so please understand -I'm saying his talent has been taken for granted. Even his music he is still amazing, it must be the promotion. I just think his music should be on the radio, on iTunes, and at the top of the charts. It all starts with that one page of the book where you want more and continue to read. I wish Taylor Swift, or Ed Sheeran would duet with him, only take one single to restart his career. Well of course Josh Groban... David's voice is angelic and soothing to the soul. Just his smile lights up the room. He's the cutest man. There's so much more to him, he's good we don't get that often anymore. Genuine would sum it up. David….. The fear you speak of may be as simple as achieving YOUR PLEASURES and turning off what you THINK is expected of you by others! The voice of doubt shadows the light we all live inside. We are meant to live not to fear. In all that you do, “ fear NOTHING, you have nothing to FEAR “ You can and should live your life as you will. Regret is baggage ! Leave it behind. Do good unto your fellow man, be proud of you and confident in the gifts of the father! For he has known the destination of your existence from your first heart beat! Do not fall victim to your thoughts of doubt, as the father lives through you, through all of us. Your not alone in the battle to do good. We are hear to walk the Journey together, some recognized this more than others. Beast to you and all you do! God bless

It's really about picking thoughts and attitudes that are high vibrational and persisting with them mentally. It's more mental action than physical for me. Also, It's about being willing to feel negativity and releasing old "trapped energy" as I think high vibe thoughts like "I love you" and "I am grateful" persistently. The interesting thing is the mind will never be satisfied so whether you take opportunity or don't take it.. it's about practicing gratitude and high vibe thoughts alone in your room until you raise yourself up.. It's about persistent mental affirmation until you align with that new state of being and transcend the lower mind... Trust me.. i'm still battling.. but I know it's a battle at least...
