This is 1 of the keys to being a successful magician, never do the same trick twice in a row unless you're ready for it. Instead have variations ready to go as well as other tricks. Like you said, he's a pro at this. Anyone interested in performing should study how he handles those he's interacting with & controls their focus.

@SoftserveSodium Remember, she didn't pick the card in her mind; she chose a card that she saw in the deck. So, David had to "force" her to see that card and focus on only that card. One way is to put the "forced" card on top of a special card; this special card is physically shorter than every other card. While you're riffling through the cards with your finger, the special card will be skipped (due to being shorter and not being touched by your riffling finger). This causes the "forced" card to be visible for slightly longer than every other card, which will usually be the card she notices and remembers. Does that make sense?

Noting the differences in reactions of people from different cultures is not racist. You are inventing dragons to slay. There is enough real racism in the world to make you feel uncomfortable. One COULD say that only racist people see racism when it's not really there. Just sayin'.

He even explained two of those tricks to them and they didn’t catch on , he slowed the flight card down and told them and showed them the flight . What a guy , even when its explained how he did it , our minds won’t let go of what we think we know .. 🤙🏽

except the 'super fast' card flight wasn't real lol, he just switched to a double lift, then flicked the cards to pretend they went at a super fast speed

When the camera pulled away from them in the last few secs, with them smiling and waving, I just felt sentimental. Wonder where they are now - 2022 - and what has happened to them all this while. Have they got better as a family? Or has life broken and beat them down. Such is the wonderful beauty of 'videos' - timeless, yet nostalgic.

I felt the same exact feeling man. They were all standing there like a slice from a time travel painting...then the film froze into a still shot paused. I've walked on that exact block with my now lost and far away girlfriend who I tried to marry a few months too late and she was gone to the other side of the world. Her and I walked those same blocks on a bus trip to NYC right at the time this pilot for Blaine was filmed in the late 90's. I also immediately wondered, what happened to these people, are they still alive, the woman standing with the baby at her feet, the two dudes, one drinking from a bottle in a paper bag, the other eating an orange...on an obvious hot summer day in Manhattan. The nostalgia just hit me. If I could time travel....I'd go back right now, and have my girl their again, but I wouldn't let her go as I did.

@@philosopher0076 Take care man. It's also the same for us - strangers in this world - yet conversing over air and talking to each other. While our words will be captured and stored in this space, once 'time' is pulled out and stretched beyond 100 years, we will all be gone still. Peace.

@@dantlanz9239 True. Time is elusive and abstract and, "waits" for no man. We only have our now. Everything else, past or future things are just mist and dreams which we recall and want back...or dream and hope will one day come. I, at now almost 57 just want my old girl back in my arms ( Her now in Australia and 48 and married for 10 years to a far far younger guy than herself and who she never really loved ). She was THE ONE...and I blew it.

Take notes: When they ask "do it again", you move on to a new trick. Keep them amazed, guessing while keeping them excited for a new trick. And always prep more tricks than you expect them to keep asking for.
