This is 1 of the keys to being a successful magician, never do the same trick twice in a row unless you're ready for it. Instead have variations ready to go as well as other tricks. @SoftserveSodium Remember, she didn't pick the card in her mind; she chose a card that she saw in the deck. So, David had to "force" her to see that card and focus on only that card. One way is to put the "forced" card on top of a special card; this special card is physically shorter than every other card. While you're riffling through the cards with your finger, the special card will be skipped (due to being shorter and not being touched by your riffling finger). This causes the "forced" card to be visible for slightly longer than every other card, which will usually be the card she notices and remembers. Does that make sense?

When the camera pulled away from them in the last few secs, with them smiling and waving, I just felt sentimental. Wonder where they are now - 2022 - and what has happened to them all this while. I felt the same exact feeling man. They were all standing there like a slice from a time travel painting...then the film froze into a still shot paused. I've walked on that exact block with my now lost and far away girlfriend who I tried to marry a few months too late and she was gone to the other side of the world. Her and I walked those same blocks on a bus trip to NYC right at the time this pilot for Blaine was filmed in the late 90's. I also immediately wondered, what happened to these people, are they still alive, the woman standing with the baby at her feet, the two dudes, one drinking from a bottle in a paper bag, the other eating an orange...on an obvious hot summer day in Manhattan. The nostalgia just hit me. If I could time travel....I'd go back right now, and have my girl their again, but I wouldn't let her go as I did.
