A few weeks after he passed, I dreamed I was at his gig. There were like ten people in the audience, so I ran to the edge of the stage. He knelt down and started singing to me, looking into my eyes. It was this song.

This song made me quit a job that was killing me. "Don't stay in a sad place, where they don't care how you are". The future is uncertain. I don't care-- I'm stickin' with Bowie!

This song has really grabbed me lately. The live versions are all stellar and so filled with his spirit, humor, joy, and love even though the theme is a bitter-sweet one. I find the lyrics speak volumes about the poignancy of life's simple basic existence.....friends, neighbors, jobs, lovers, family....without them to say hi to us we're lost. I love this man.

David wrote a beguiling, allusive, poignant and gorgeous song about his father's translation in 1969 when he was 22 years old. Since this song was released in 2002, his dad was still close to his beautiful heart all those years.

"buy a little frame, something cheap, for you" line is so poignant and nostalgic. Most of David Bowie's lyrics are amazing. On top of that he can really compose, arrange, sing and perform.
Immer wieder ein absolutes Musikstück, dass es zeigt wie vielfältig DABO ist. Er wird sich nicht beweisen müssen, denn er ist der neue King of Music. Freundlichst PINADABO.

Sad , disbelieving face actually. David “ when my father died in 1969, I couldn’t actually believe that he was not going to come back . I kind of thought that he’d just put his raincoat and his cap on , and that he’d be back in a few weeks or something. And I felt like that for years. It really took a long time for me to be able to take in the fact that I wouldn’t see him again. So this one was just a little simplistic reference to that, about how it always feels like somebody has gone on a holiday of some kind. And there’s something sad about ships as well “ watch it again and you will understand xx
