A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ KZbin. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of KZbin I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on KZbin won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This KZbin channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different
This is a reaction video used to educated and give my feedback on the song and artist

Young people have strange ideas of what is actually good. They stick to a genre that they feel represents their personality, or image or whatever it is. Being into anything from folk to disco to frikkin gangster hip hop. (Prefer that 90s tho) Also heath ledger danced to this in knights tale. And he's the best actor of our generation. So, yeah.

"Golden Years" was a top ten hit back in the day. I remember hearing it on the AM-pop radio station my parents used to listen to when I was a kid -- "Run for the shadows, run for the shadows..." That line used to catch my attention when I was a kid. It's also the song Bowie sang that time he appeared on Soul Train. That makes it a crossover hit too! I still like the song a whole lot! As for popular songs that I don't like, well, I tend to forget about them as fast as I can! That said, a lot of people like Bowie's "Modern Love" more than I do, but my reasons for not liking that song much have less to do with the song itself and more to do with the oversaturated airplay the song got back in the 80's when it was still new. Same for "With or Without You" by U2. Both songs sounded great to me the first few dozen times I heard them, but I must have heard them both several hundred times by the time they dropped off the charts, by which point I was sick of hearing them.
@debjorgo
@debjorgo 3 жыл бұрын
Oo. I forgot about Modern Love. I might have to redo my Bowie top 5. When Love Comes to Town with BB King is just about the only U2 song I care to listen to.

@@chrismeadows4216 yup...part of his Thin White Duke trilogy of albums.
@chrismeadows4216
@chrismeadows4216 3 жыл бұрын
@@JimGeigerMusic It's not really a trilogy. On Diamond Dogs, he was Halloween Jack, on Young Americans, he was a really vulnerable version of himself, and on Low he was using music he had originally written for The Man Who Fell to Earth but didn't have a character. Station to Station is the only album where he had that particular focus on The Thin White Duke. The soul era was transitional, and it led into The Berlin Trilogy, where David Bowie was the David Bowie that everyone grew to recognize by his own persona. Station to Station was where The Thin White Duke started and stopped.

Bowie was trying to figure out what to do with his career and this is his "Plastic Soul" sound, to reach a wider audience. He had to metaphorically kill Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders in order to make the transition to the "Thin White Duke" Mick Ronson was his better half. Always on the pulse of the public. The most influential person in pop music. There's haters everywhere. He's just too cool.

I have never heard of anyone who doesn't like this song. Maybe at the very beginning because it was such a radical change from what he'd been doing before but most people got over themselves after the second time hearing what was, in my opinion, one of his finest songs.

Honestly same! This is a fantastic Bowie song!!! It grooves hard. My guess is the hate came from the “purists” out there who only like Bowie’s more experimental songs. They tend to frown on his more “commercial” pop songs. The truth is that Bowie was a musical master and he nailed whatever he worked on.

David Bowie was never a stagnant artist, his music changed as the decades changed... So I can imagine that there might be people who don't like certain musical stages he went through.... but personally, all good here. He is one of my musical 'Heroes'. China Girl and Let's Dance are two of my faves of his from the 80s..... you might want to check them out. Different decade, different sound.

If he reacts to ‘as the world falls down’ he needs to watch the video with it, now that might mess with him but he’d be fully Immersed in it 🐬

@@JenniferSwiftBlood Agreed. I wish it had the full song, because I love the extra suspense leading into the solo, but it absolutely won't be boring with a shorter version and such great visuals.

Killer song. Also Fame. Bowie was ahead of the times. Sounds like a great band playing what they like hearing.

As a teenager I like Bowie but did not like the idea of him doing soul music; I was not a soul fan. Then someone said I should listen to the Station to Station album that this track is on. I did and I loved it. For one thing he had shaken off the cockney twang in his voice and opened his range a lot more. Then he was doing something new. Station to Station has a sound but none of the tracks on it are much like each other or anything else, it mixes Soul and metal and electronic krautrock. Wild is the Wind is one of his best vocals ever and its a cover of a song from twenty years before. These days I can appreciate soul a lot more.

Let’s not forget what a hero Bowie was for going on MTV in ‘83 and asking them to their faces during an interview why the hell they weren’t playing enough black musicians; and then calling their answer BS.
