In USA. (Billboard, Cash Box, Record World) He had more than 30 entries between singles and albums. Just talking about the 70s. I mean, it was clearly big in the USA. We're talking about 5 consecutive top 10 albums and even a number 1 single. But it's worth noting how big it was in the rest of the world, in its home, UK. In the 70s he had 13 albums in the top 5 and 12 singles in the top 10. Among the 5 that sold the most that decade in the UK.

I first heard David Bowie in 1972. The album was Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. I fell in love with that album. I bought Hunky Dory after that and The Man Who Sold the World. I also own Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Station to Station, Young Americans and Low. I love them all.

HarriBest David Bowie was well liked/loved in the U.S.A. My 1st songs I hearing of David Bowie - Space Oddity & Changes. The commit you gave of the 2 funky songs you gave yes were funky but you forgot the nastiest funky song he made was Fame. This song In the U.S. was the 1st song of his considered as funk. This song really got me hook on David music was Fame as a teen it was so original & a head of it's time. The bass & the guitar was so nasty funky now add his voice took it that song to another level. This was my favorite song 1 of many from him & another reason i like Fame cause it was so fun to freestyle roller skate too. Did you know hip hop & djs like me excepted this song all so. That in the 90' David did a remake of Fame with Queen Latifah the queen of hip hop. In hip hop David musics has been sampled 1 that come to mind now was Vanilla Ice - Ice ice baby that sampled Queen/Bowie - Under Pressure in the 90's hit no. 1 on the charts. The song you gave + also add we danced to was Modern Love. Alot of David's music did very well on the U.S. music charts in many genre of music + he had alot of no. 1 hits here. David Bowie in the U.S. is considered a Legend/Icon in music & is in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. I liked his last lp. before he passed R.I.P. Now to Loose End I didn't know they did a cover to Golden Years i'll have to check that out. Was this before they came to the U.S. We have much in common with Loose Ends i'm from M.P.L.S. MN. Where the legendary Producers/Song writers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis is from that made many hits for Loose Ends. Before they were producers/song writers they were in a group called The Time that Prince R.I.P. put the group together he also from M.P.L.S. Have you herd the of group The Time they have many hits you could do a reactions on them also they were in the movie Purple Rain. I'm also a fan of Loose Ends there music i have great memories from there music. From roller skating, Dancing & djed there music. We spun there music at Prince club called Glam Slam. Last week Jam & Lewis dropped they new lp. It's good. Some of the artists they wrote for in the past are sing on the lp. The strange thing is 1 of the producers/singer they were battling for creating #1 hits of the 80's thru the 90's is on there single??. ( Baby Face) it nice. Wish Loose Ends would make music again & should. The great artist of the pass are making new music. from 2020 to a few mo.s ago. The Spinners just dropped a new single Cliche. Bowie was of course a chameleon. I appreciate the self-reinvention he underwent on the album Let’s Dance more and more every year. Let’s Dance is quite literally a dance track, and it certainly has a funky bass line.

Bowie was a success in the U.S. from about '72/'73 on. He had several hit singles and his albums & tours did pretty well in general in comparison to in most countries.

I grew up listening to David. He doesn't have a bad song. I love the Heathen album, Slip Away, Slow Burn are awesome. Other songs of his I love are Thursdays Child especially the Vh1 live thing he did where he tells you the story about it. Where Are We Now?, No Plan Blackstar, Lazarus, etc..........

You may need to do a little tour through Mr. Bowie's catalogue. My first experience with David Bowie is an album called Hunky Dory ( My favorite album to this day) and that was the start of my trip down the rabbit hole. Young Americans and Station to Station got me hooked for good. We love David here in the U.S. He also seamlessly became part of the New York fabric in the later years. Man do I miss him.

This has always been my favorite Bowie song! Also, in the late 1990s/early 2000s there was a Steven King movie of the same name (Golden Years), which featured this song as the intro & credits song... I loved this song in the 1980s, as a kid... but when I heard it in the movie "Golden Years," it re-ignighted that flame, and for the last 2 decades, I CAN NOT HEAR THIS SONG ENOUGH!!! This song is a work of art! Normally, I can't dance worth a $#!+, but there are a few songs that do it to me, and this is one of them! Thanks so much for this video reaction! Bowie originally wrote this for Elvis Presley in 1976. Elvis declined but regretted it after the track was released (and became a hit). He died a few months later.

I remember CBS did a mini series called Golden Years based on a Stephen King story. That was the first time I ever heard this song. The mini series was horrible but that's not important. I was 14 and didn't really know Bowie. But I immediately recognized that this was the work of musical genius.

I remember hearing this song on the AM pop radio back in 1976 when I was still in grade school. The "run for the shadows" line always caught my ear when the song came over the radio in the car. It broke into the top ten in the pop charts. Check out Bowie's appearance on "Soul Train" that year. It's classic. Funky? You betcha! But slightly less so than "Fame", which he released the year before, and slightly more so than "Sound and Vision" which he released the following year. Remember, what came to be called disco was on the rise during those years, so different sure, but not that unusual. Another funky Bowie tune from back then is "1984" released two years before this song.
