One of my go to cats is doing this one!! I'm in my 50s. People said many things about David. To me he was many things growing up in a small farm in Ireland. And now I'm far away. He was my cultural father. "Big bite size chunks out of life"

Bowie's voice was extraordinary early on, but he had lost a lot of its range by the 1990s due to chain smoking. By the time of this performance, however, he had regained much of his range after quitting. The most recent use of this song I can recall in wide release was the 2019 film _Jojo_ _Rabbit_ which uses Bowie's German version of this in its final scene.

In reference to your comment on "Under Pressure": Brian kind of danced around the subject and said in one of the documentaries, that he came to the conclusion to take a step back, "which I normally don't do"..I assume it was a big ego thing....and 5 hard and hot headed males in that small studio in Montreux.☮

Love, love this song written by David Bowie and Brian Eno. 🎶 He is so amazing LIVE and am happy I was able to experience that. 💕🔥 I Hap, your reaction and interpretation are always top notch. 🔥💯. Plus,, the fact that you brought to our attention the band's diversity, was awesome!! 💐 The story behind the song is very interesting. Without really knowing the backstory meaning, it can be interpreted in many ways. The brilliance of Boeie and Eno!! I absolutely love Bowie's voice, it is absolutely mesmerizing and buttery. I do get lost in his vocal mastery. Thank you for your reactions! Peace J ✌ ☮ 💕

Thanks Hap Bowie is my favorite solo artist. I was watching one of his videos when they said he had passed. The song is about two lover’s kissing by the Berlin Wall. They were oblivious to the danger all around them. Bowie could see them from where he was, He lived in Berlin off & on for many yrs. The band was his for more than 20 yrs. Gail Ann Dorsey is one of the best bass guitarist around. 90% of his band was colored. He was married about 20yrs to a woman of color a super model named IMAN. They had one child together. He stared in the Elephant man on Broadway. He acted in several movies my favorites are labyrinth and the man who fell to earth. He was a renowned artist had several art shows. Had his own internet called Bowie Net, (which I’m a member) he allowed unknown artist to post there art work. I could keep going but I don’t want to write a book. To me Bowie & Brian May were about the same cause besides being great musicians they also had a lot of other projects to keep them in the real world 🌎 Great redaction Hap ☮️

Hi Hapz, you may have heard it on either 'Life On Mars' or 'Ashes To Ashes' TV shows. I believe it was also used in the TV show 'Stranger Things' which used a Peter Gabriel cover........... It's possible you have come across it on the radio as it was a big hit for Bowie.

I swear I heard a cover of this during the Covid lock-down as a tribute. I think it was Motorhead that did it? I could be wrong but I remember being surprised by the cover. I like David Bowie. His songs tend to vamp but he is able to make them interesting through his mannerisms. I don't know that much about David but, like Freddie, he seems like a true self-made artist. Thanks for the reaction!

Bowie didnt made any statement. Bass Guitarrist is Gail Ann Dorsey, one of the best there is, made solo albums, part of his band for almost 20 years. Why did he choose to work with her? Cause she is an outstanding musician. Bowie never cared about gender, skin colour or hair style. He worked with persons of color since he started in the 60s. His role model was Little Richard. His second wife was Iman. Only thing he ever cared about in his band was the ability as a musician. He would find your view that he was making a statement very strange and disturbing. It was just normality, nothing else.

I always remember him more as an actor actually in "The Man Who Fell to Earth" and "Labyrinth" especially. His voice was always deeper in tone than alot of the lead singers at that time. Fascinating guy. I guess what would be called an "influencer" today.

Listen to the original track and you will hear the late Mick Ronson do the great intro to this song, and lets not forget the great Gayle Ann Dorsey, who played bass on Bowie's CD and concerts in the later years.

This one of my all favorite David Bowie songs. His voice is awesome. I saw him live twice in the 80's. Great shows. He has done some great creative music. You should dig into his catalog. IMO Sound and Vision is one of those unusual and creative songs. Great reaction as always. 😊😊💙💙💜💜🌞🌞

In those days David Bowie was a bigger artist than Queen. He wouldn't have worked with them regularly. And the recording of Under Pressure was just kind of an accidental meeting thing and he took over that recording while all four members willingly let him.

A fantastic song sung by a very charismatic David Bowie with his unique and soothing voice. And I think the fact that the lead guitarist was a woman was rather unusual at the time😉. As I know, this song was inspired by a situation he witnessed near a rather "historically" significant site, the "Berlin Wall" in Germany. It is one of the songs from the album "HEROES", the only album of the "Berlin Trilogy" albums that was created and recorded entirely in Berlin (Germany), where he also lived from 1976 to 1979. Great song that has been used in many commercials and covered by various artists. For many it became more of an anthem. He also performed this song on Live Aid. One of the artists who has not been afraid to reflect on the signs of this time and to speak the truth. Great reaction HAP, thanks 🥰🙋🏻‍♀️.

Heroes is my favourite Bowie song. You might want to check out his Live Aid performance which is second only to Queen imo. He also did a phenomenal performance of Heroes and All the Young Dudes with Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert. David has some great songs, Jean Genie, Rebel Rebel, Life on Mars, TVC15, Diamond Dogs, Space Oddity, the list goes on and on...

I orefer this Bowie over his younger self, actually. The bald black woman is Gail Ann Dorsey. Bass guitar. She was in his band for about 20 years and he included her alot in his concerts. She's amazing. You HAVE to react to their version of Under Pressure. I ADORE Freddie Mercury of course, but this live version is honestly my absolute favorite kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zp3MfaeDqd-mY80

Great reaction. Bowie was ahead of his time not only music, he appeared to sincerely not care to differentiate on race, gender or sexual orientation and wasn’t afraid to put all of these topics out there,, either in a (then considered) shocking way or later on try to address in a more direct and engage others more intellectually , yet know when the OpenOffice/other debater was no longer worth his time like this clip from 1983, an interviewer from MTV, interesting clip if you haven’t seen it kzbin.info/www/bejne/jouqmomwftdrh8k
