It's called "contact juggling". Bowie couldn't do it, so when you see him juggling, they're someone else's hands from behind. Incidentally, the ballroom scene inspired the "Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball", which is held every year in Los Angeles now.

There’s a behind the scenes of the making of this movie. They talk about all of the effects and how they did them. It somehow makes it more magical seeing it! Also Hoggle’s face was controlled by remote control and there was someone inside.

The thing with the riddle is, it's a classic one, and they kept sticking it everywhere. It kept bugging me that I didn't get it, so eventually it clicked: A way to understand it is to think if you ask Doorknob A, "Would Doorknob B say that _you_ would say this door leads to certain death?" and the answer was "Yes," that would mean 1 of 2 things: 1) A always tells the truth, that B would say Yes, and that means that B tells lies, so the answer is No. 2) A tells lies, that B would say Yes, so B would actually say No. Be tells the truth, so the answer is No. But she could've just asked them the color of what she's wearing like you said, they forgot to put in the script that she could only ask one question

The sets were the magic of Henson, the dialogue definitely feels like Lucas, and the design was Brian Froud. It's all so lovely. They had a whole list of artists they were considering for Jareth, but I think they got the best one. Also, there is a small bit of CGI, but it's only the owl in the credits, nowhere else. Everything else is practical thanks to the Henson Company. Oh, and Toby was played by a child named Toby Froud, who was Brian Froud's son. :)

I'm not even sure how we didn't see this but saw so many other iconic movies of this style and era as babies (Neverending Story, The Dark Crystal, Muppets, Legend, Willow, etc.). We watched it on a whim and just fell in love lol

Only the beginning owl in the beginning credits is one of the first time cgi was used. One of my favorite movies since I was a kid. I knew it so well that I knew every word and just listing to the music I knew which scene it was from. Multiple people controlled different parts of Hoggle's head. Eyes, eyebrows , mouth. Brian Henson did one and the voice of Hoggle .I was scared too of the fire gang when I was younger.

You should watch it. If you want to watch a movie where African-American men are brave, are heroes, are noble we and wonderful--watch the history of WW2, and how African-Americans worked to bring down Hitler. The most famous actress of her c time, Bette Davis, bet her career on both creating and insisting African -American soldiers have equal rights by integrated the Hollywood Canteen. (Let's not argue about Bette attending high school in Harlem and that she had a black boyfriend in the 1920s.)

The knight and knave puzzle, guarding the two doors, is a bit complicated. But it was solved by seeking the lie. She asked one solider what the other would say. So if she asked A what B would say, if B is the liar, A has to say B’s lie as that’s what she asked. If B was honest, A would misconstrue B’s answer into a lie. So if I asked if a door leads to certain death in that format and the answer was yes, you would know that is the door to take.

18:50 "Is this a PG-13 movie?" The PG-13 rating started in 1984, two years prior to Labyrinth coming out. Since Labyrinth doesn't have cursing, partial nudity, violence (actual), drug references, or sexual themes it has just a PG rating. Before 1984, the PG rating had a really wide umbrella of what fell under it. The movie E.T. The Extra Terrestrial (1982) was PG and it is harmlessly mild compared to Logan's Run (1976) also PG but had violence, drug use, and full nudity... that's a big difference from one extreme to the other for a PG rating.

Movie was quite violent. The flesh eating piranhas that those goblins had. Then, there's the flying heads. Kind of exorcism like. It was quite dark for a kids movie. I think it should be a teen movie or a young adult. Don't think the movie is suited for children under 8.
