"Nomi was so impressed with the plastic quasi-tuxedo suit that Bowie wore during "The Man Who Sold the World" that he commissioned one for himself. He wore the suit on the cover of his self-titled album, as well as during a number of his music videos. Nomi wore his variant of the outfit, in monochromatic black-and-white with spandex and makeup to match, until the last few months of his life." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klaus_Nomi)

I do remember seeing this on SNL when it first aired. The "Boys Keep Swinging" segment with Bowie as a puppet was silly (but entertaining nonetheless). But it was "TVC15" with that weird AF poodle with the TV mouth that blew me away. This is still one of SNL's best musical performances.

At a fashion talk I went to at FIT in NY, Joey Arias told a story that he and Klaus Nomi could wear whatever they wanted, and when they showed up for rehearsal in dresses David decided he wanted one too even though he had been wearing suits to perform at the time. ❤
@WGB30196 ай бұрын
They touched a lot of great themes. I saw this when young, but came back around to it after re-watching Total Eclipse by Klaus Nomi from Urgh. I heard about the plastic suit. I just didn’t put this all together. I’m glad it’s hard to be this daring - the doors have been opened. But terrific music and performances.
