Very Rare.
These pictures of David Bowie had not been developed in 39 years and they see the light of day first now.
They were taken on april 27th 1976 in Stockholm Sweden at the Royal Tennis Hall on Davids Isolar Tour.
The film roll was forgotten and recently found and developed. The BIG SURPRISE as we didn't know what was on the roll!!!
It was my 1st Bowie concert as a 13 year old lad, and needless to say David blew my mind!!!
A few years ago I ran into a friend and we got talking about great concerts and of course I talked about this show. He looks at me and says I was there too and I recorded it!
He explained how he had lugged a big tape recorder with stereo mics, managed to get it inside the venue and taped the show. Long story short... He gave me a copy of the show... and wow!!!
To have a copy of the 1st Bowie show I'd ever seen was amazing. That meant a lot. Thank you Dante!!!
I have seen David in concert 28 times but that night was a magic night as he was on fire giving so much of himself to the audience.
Enjoy these pictures...
Fred

@@Mist-Media I think so , There was a lot of green barrel and purple micro-dot ! Him and the band were great ! Saw Alice Coopers' " Welcome to My Nightmare " around the same time ! Best theatrical concert ever ! I was doing purple micro=dot at that one and sat there mesmerized the whole show ! Wow ! When he did " Only Women Bleed " he was dancing with a girl , the lights went down as he laid her on the bed , the lights came up and he was beating the hell out of her ! I didn't know they switched in the darkness ! I still get chills ! One part of the show , Alice and dancers were dancing on stage , and one at a time would twirl from the stage through a slitted curtain and in perfect timing , would appear on the screen and be gone from the stage !Rocked my world and the 14,000 other fans ! Alice is a bad dude ! Him and his wife would go to our mall before the show , he'd have a ponytail and a Callaway golf hat , nobody knew it was him , but my friends son worked at a store they went in and got his autograph . Cool dude. Sorry I "rambled on "( My Zeppelin reference ) ' My Indiana vanity license plate is LED ZEP , have a good one .

All of 'Station' was great, not a clunker or filler, but 'Stay' was not only a gorgeous funk-rock original, a real gem, but it should've been a hit, as it was released as a single... someone needs to resurrect this great 1976 Bowie track... Thin White Duke slays all Bowie persona...

One thing not discussed very much was the lighting for this Isolar Tour. I caught this tour in Chicago. Bowie, being the creative maverick that he always was, decided to go against the grain and deviate from the lighting found at almost all other major concerts, where it was always very colorful and the audience section quite dark. Bowie decided to go with an almost all-white lighting concept, which at times when all the lights were on really lit up the stage and this even broke out into the audience. At times in our concert, it actually had the feeling of daylight, it was that bright.

I wish id seen him in 76,but i had to wait to the breathtaking 78 tour. Still the greatest show ive ever seen. I know what youre saying about the lighting. There were these tiny little things we were given to take, said to enhance the concert, and Wow!! Like an elevator ride to the moon at high speed. The lightshow became highly hypnotic, pulsing and flashing with the songs. Such a genius stroke by him, it took it all to another level. With the powerful locomotive intro to Station To Station and Belew's surreal guitar, i was flashing in and out of reality and just hanging on, and that vertical neonbar lightshow so stunning. I feel Bowie came close to matching the 78 tour with Reeves Gabrels' fiery guitar sound on the 96-97 shows, but 78 was so brilliant with its Heroes, Low, Station and Ziggy setlist. Great comment you gave thanks.

Saw this show in Montreal on February 25 1976 I was 15 cost only $9.85. Great show Carlos Earl and Dennis. David was incredible. It was my first big concert and I’d been a fan already for two years and knew all his stuff. They opened with Stationtostation it sounded like a train station and fog covered the stage. Carlos Alomar had shades and a top hat and the cool opening notes for the song building and building and then this flash of orange hair and the line ‘the return of the thin white duke.....’ in that unmistakable voice I remember it like it was last night. It was almost 45 years ago. And I’m still a fan of all music.

@@adrianjae599 cool. I have a bootleg from 1972 Santa Monica civic center in California. It was the Ziggy tour and they do great stuff. Waiting for The Man , Width of a Circle , sweet thing reprise and all. And most of Ziggy. My grandparents came to Montreal from the UK in 1910 both sets. They were from the North Sheffield Manchester Prestwich. I spent 5 weeks there with my parents when I was 17 (1978) god that’s a long time ago. Still got tons of family there. My granny was a Nash and born in 1892 in Manchester a family of 13. She lost a brother in ww1 and a couple moved to Australia. I wonder if I’m related , distantly to Graham Nash. Lol.

@@adrianjae599 also when I was in the UK I remember I bought The Stones Love You Live in Windsor in a store near a pub by a stone bridge. It’s a beautiful country and diverse for its size. Torquey The Lake District the Moors. I really should go back. We got stuck in mud in a 78 Ford Granada ( the British kind ) in Castleton. Fortunately we were near a pub. Lol. Growing up my grandmother referred to it as The Mother Countrey , this would conjour up images of a very matronly looking Victoria and her vast Empire. Lol. Cheers.

@@johngore7744 That bootleg album was SANTA MONICA LIVE ‘72 (a mate recorded it on a cassette tape for me decades ago) ; I remember a back-street record shop in Soho back in the 70’s that sold bootlegs (under the counter) where I bought THE THIN WHITE DUKE recorded at the Nassau Coliseum NY on the 1975 Isolar tour which was acclaimed by die-hards as the best live album Bowie ‘never released’ until it officially appeared in its entirety on the deluxe box set edition of Station to Station in 2010 (it’s also on Spotify) Graham Nash hailed from Salford in Manchester so an ancestry check may reveal more. In 1910 Canada would’ve indeed been part of Victoria’s British Empire !

It was kind of a spillover from his previous album, Young Americans. David still had some of that funk and soul left in him, but at the same time he was heading back to his rock roots. To me, it resulted in the perfect blend.

Great pictures. I caught a show on this tour and was able to get up very close but alas, had no camera. It was quite bright owing to the exclusive use of white light which varied in intensity throughout the show. I could have used some sun screen and shades. Up close you could see everything on the stage very clearly - amp and PA cables, cigarette butts, beer cups, roadies standing off to the side laughing and having conversations. Great show in any case.

With a little editting, 'Stay' was released as a single back on '76. Why it didn't chart well is perplexing. It's one of the 3 great tracks off of 'Station' & one of Bowie's ost hard-driving "pop" tracks. Everyone is cooking on this studio recording, featuring Earl Slick's great & memorable guitar parts. This rendition is the best of the two which used this chord progression ('John I'm Only Dancing, Again). Bowie really shines here in the pre-disco mid-70's...

I saw this show days later at Wembley and it was pretty mindblowing on several levels. Sorry guys but these shots (rare as they are) look like you put the MainMan on in a youth centre.
