Station to Station is forever his masterpiece in my opinion. Six tracks and Bowie croons, howls and pours his heart out on some of the most layered, soulful and funky instrumentation on a pop record. EzioMonty117 to be fairly honest I can't really stand TVC15. I get the story behind the song, what with Iggy and all his nefarious shenanigans, but it's just, the repetitive aspect mixed with the annunciation in the song just kinda leaves me feeling strange, for lack of a better word. It just doesn't flow very well for me. Everything else is just great though. Truly an amazing little twisted work of cocaine psychosis and inspiration. In my top 5 by him.

Maybe an unpopular or even unthinkable opinion, but I am a big fan of the Bowie album “Never Let You Down”. I think if Tonight was never released NLYD would have seemed like a natural progression from Let’s Dance. It has good song writing and the big criticism has been the tinny sound found during that 80s era. But it has a certain charm after all these years that fits with Bowie’s discography. We all know Bowie was a pioneer of the 80s sound with his Berlin trilogy and so if anyone deserves to indulge in that aesthetic it is Bowie. So give it a listen. And I’m not talking the 2018 remix. I’m talking the 2018 remaster of the original instruments and sounds. It actually sounds really cool with a good pair of speakers/headphones. One of my most listened to Bowie albums.

After watching the In Utero Review and now this I'm able to see that fame was a major motive in these 2 records. However Bowie and Nirvana chanelled it very differently. Bowie made a big,pompous Epos- like record. Nirvana made a hell of a trainwreck. The lyrics on both records especially on In Utero have a general dark tone. Both records opened the doors for many listeners as they made them explore other genres . All I want to say is thank you Anthony for your sincere and passionate reviews of those two masterpieces

I love how often you feature the Polaris album in the background. You should really do a retrospective on that album and the musical influences of the Adventures of Pete and Pete (I mean like Iggy Pop played a character in the show c'mon).

Wow takes me way back to when a young teen growing up in Seattle suburb. This girl had moved from New York. And she simply siad you Have to listen to this NOW!!. And I did over and over and over. Haven't even thought of this album in years BUT can reciet every word in every song AND in the right order

The theatricality of 'Hunky Dory' I'm sure was meant to be parodical, to give a cheap, low brow, and satirical flavor to the record, which you should of mentioned, and it's an aspect which I find to be under appreciated in the album, because I think a lot of people listen to it unaware that that's what Bowie was going for

I can see him doing a classic review of Animals , based on what he's said before about Floyd
@user-hu3iy9gz5j3 жыл бұрын
In my opinion Floyd's great era spins through the years 71-75, including three albums: Meddle, The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here. Animals initiated a downgoing spiral, where they sucked out the fun of the music with endresults bitter in tune. If Animals might be okay but The Wall is worse, consisting of merely a couple of great tracks.
