I've been playing their greatest hits CD in my car lately. This is my favorite song on it now. It should have been released as a single.

The songwriter he's talking about, btw, Rupert Holmes had a big hit with Escape (The Pina Colada Song) around 1980. David mentions Rupert, but not his hit. I think he's mystery writer today, believe it or not.

I never heard of the Pina Colada Song. Maybe you are talking about the Ketchup song?
@lorimiller43017 жыл бұрын
L Martinez Anticipation by Carol King is the Ketchup song I think. Holmes was "If you like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain..." a story about lovers that are bored and he takes out an ad to find someone eles but it ends up being his girlfriend that answers.

Rupert did not write this song alone. He had a co-writer named Kathy.

love this song at 1.31 you can tell him tell the drummer or try to signal to pick up the pace
@northheadnovelties6 жыл бұрын
rouens he was constantly telling his band through the years to pick up the tempo. He was very much in control of the show. Also would notice and let sound crew know when he had too much feed back. Very hands on from early on. It came so natural to him!

@378Daniel - he tried to contact her when things were not going good for him, but she ignored all his attempts to reunite, - its in his book!

David botched his info on Rupert Holmes, who had two big hits in 1979-80, not one. In fact, his song "Him" was one of Barbra Streisand's favorite songs of that era; one of mine too.

no one can match that voice..sigh... i wish he had a thing for girls with pink hair... Totally Sends me xxxx

Girls with pink hair is something that came of style well after the 1970s. David was born in the 1950s.

I think this was his best vocal --along with "I can feel your heartbeat." Another underrated classic, not a single.

I miss the days when TV was fun. Today they just push political views.

Wonder if he ever see's Susan Dey..anymore..as friends.
@obscurelyvague7 жыл бұрын
Perhaps they do, but they don't let it be known to the press or the public. Still the answer is probably no. After all , how often do you contact people you knew in grade school?
@lorimiller43017 жыл бұрын
L Martinez I think Susan was crushed being treated like just another notch. The whole world saw her love for David and to be treated like that was probably humiliating. I feel for her.
