He's such a sweetheart! He could barely hold back the tears on both songs. I'll echo those tears and more, just seeing the raw emotion in appreciation for his fans' love. If I could have seen him in concert a thousand times it would never have been enough! I'll love and cherish him and his songs forever. RIP sweet David...

gaysy1st I was thinking the same think as you. He had gotten the 1st DUI in November and they had separated right about that time. I’m pretty sure it was pretty tumultuous about this point. He may have cheated on her a lot and was unhappy in the marriage but he didn’t like being the one getting abandoned. His mom also got a lot worse with her dementia and Beau moved out. That’s a lot for an alcoholic to handle. This was a turning point for him as it got infinitely rougher for him from here on out. 😢

For me in his own way he is a hero...on many levels, lived with many ups and downs, such a feeling and compassionate genuine human being, not just handsome but also had a depth and quality of character and soul....Personal integrity completely resonates with us all here. He will always be with us in Spirit. God Bless Him.xx

Echo Valley is one of my favorites . Written, incidentally, by Rupert Homes of Pina Colada song fame. I recommend guitar players who are fans of this era learn songs like this - pop music was so well written in the 70s (loaded with Maj7 chords). They’re great tunes to play at parties too. Everyone loves them whether they admit it or not. All you have to do is play it to find out.

Not likely. By this time, David and Sue were living as roommates, spending months apart. He wanted to divorce her, but said if he did, he would lose everything. IMO, he's crying because Susan Dey wouldn't take his calls--not since his 1994 book. He's thinking of the past and what he lost and what might have been. In 2011, David was sick and didn't feel well, but had to take these gigs because he very much needed the money.

Well I guess he'll be looking for wife number 3 soon!? As things go in America, after the divorce he'll be broke again, maybe this time he'll agree to release some of the Partridge Family back catalogue of unreleased songs. also depends on Sony or who owns the rights I suppose. He's what 63-4 yo now time he started looking after himself (physically and mentally) stop blaming everyone in his past for his failings (and we all have them). When he released the NOW and THEN album it was great , then he went back to is slurry singing. Here in Australia in the 70's he was the biggest thing since sliced bread, then when he came out again in the early 2000's how times had changed . John Farnham as playing at the Rod laver /tennis court in Melbourne, sold out concerts, David was next door in the Bike racing auditorium ( could fire a cannon and it hit anyone) When David released Rock me baby, John Farnham also covered it, that was the same year David was nominated for King of Pop but lost to John Farnham. Even John Bahler when David broke away from the style that made him famous it all stopped for him, the record sales the concert numbers etc. He bent over backwards t destroy Keith Partridge and in doing so destroyed a huge part of his fan base. End of David Cassidy , end of story!
@obscurelyvague

One thing that will remain constant though times change, is that there will always be people who build you up to tear you down. Many of David's so called fans are doing that. It was Toni Tenille who said that the same audience who put you in a high place want to see you fail so they can say how you have disappointed them.
