I saw David in concert shortly before his death. It was free, at a resort community, an audience of maybe 2000. I honestly thought it was going to suck, just some old washed up dude. But surprisingly, it was a great show. He was warm, funny, could still sing well, and was humble. Glad I got to see him.

i think it may also have been dementia. my dad (who recently passed in march of this year at 87) died of vascular dementia. i was his main caregiver for the past 10 years. i watched a daddy who was in healthy control of his emotions, thoughts and behaviors become what i call "softly insane". he would get manic in his beliefs and would get belligerent to the point of combativeness. he would do things that didn't make any sense...be so cruel to me and then to my brother (who helped me when he could) to the point we would have to tell him he was out of line and we aren't taking his verbal abuse. my brother is a retired geriatric nurse who primarily worked with patients suffering from dementia and memory/behavior issues from traumatic brain damage. he mentored me during my caregiving. he told me many accounts of patients whose brains were damaged by alcohol, then slowly begin to be affected by vascular dementia.... he was very emotionally touched by them....by all of the patients he took care of.

Still, David Cassidy with his unique sexy voice will always be remembered as a serious songwriter, guitarist and piano player. Because he deserves it! Thank you for the music. RIP

Thank you for telling David's story. At one point I found other information: the destination of his ashes. They seem not to be scattered on Bali as mentioned, but on the horsetrack of Saratoga Springs in upstate New York, after David's own wishes. Breeding racing horses was a great passion of him. Maybe he felt very much at ease with horses. I hope he got comfort from them in diffucult times.
@adiedo3 ай бұрын
He loved animals and I think he got the unconditional love from them. Horses seemed magical to him, I would guess. Horse breeding is expensive and from what I've read David was not very good with money which is ok bc many of us aren't. But if you are famous with a certain amount of money you need to very financially astute or hire someone who is. Just so sad. He should still be around doing his thing for the pure love of it. The music biz is so different than it was in the 70s or even the 90s where you HAD to have a record deal to get any kind of traction in the biz. Now with internet, youtube etc you can directly control yr own music career. Prince did that for a while without a label and just put out his own stuff. Just bc an artist doesn't get radio play does not mean a great career cannot be had. Look at Emmylou Harris, Dwight Yokam, Marty Stuart foe example. They still record and tour and have great and loyal fans.

I always wondered where he lived when he died. It really does seem like it was just yesterday when the partridge family came on on TV. And I’m so jealous that you got to drive through the Warner Brothers ranch. I love seeing the tv house and his final home. Nice job Scott. 👍

I had his posters up all over my room along with Bobby Sherman. I had to get the issues of Tiger Beat and others hoping there would be a colored glossy of David in it. Great memories!

A lot of people go through that, -- peaking too early & just not finding solid footing in life for whatever reason. It's tough not having a set routine in life. His last words makes me very sad because time really does fly & regrets can pile up. I became disabled before 30, which detailed my entire life. I feel good pain with not feeling like he had any direction after his career.

It is said that he never recovered from the tragic loss of the teenage girl that died at his concert. He once starred in an episode of Tales Of The Unexpected, in which he played a pair of twin brothers, good acting. My best friend was mad about him, I preferred Alice Cooper, but I still watched The Partridge Family, every week. Such a sad loss.

Well said. I agree I believe he never got over what happened to her. I think that was the very start of his downward spiral.

Just ran across Dave's phone number in one of my old phones and started doing some reminiscing. The last time we hung out was at a movie theater in West Palm. Me and my girlfriend and him and his wife had dinner together then went and saw a movie. I couldnt even tell you what movie we saw because me and him sat and laughed about stuff the whole time, to the point that we almost were kicked out. His wife and my girlfriend wasnt too happy about it at all. We finally had to go to the bar until the movie was over. He was a character and would get you laughing and keep you laughing all night to the point your stomach would hurt for the next 3 days. We kind of fed off eachother like that. I Sure do miss the guy, even when he would tease me about my southern accent. I loved hearing him try to imitate me. He'd have me practically rolling in the floor laughing every time. I quit drinking about 12 years ago, and if i hadn't quit, I would have probably been in the same boat. Its sad what addiction can do to, not just a person, but the people around them also. It ruined a lot of my relationships with some of my family but I feel lucky that I was able to finally kick the habit and salvage some of the relationships I have with family and friends. It makes me feel guilty about some of the good times we had. I just wish he was still around. He was one of the funniest guys I ever knew.

Man, you load the sadness in this one. I loved watching re-runs of the show. Always dug the music. Sad how David died. And then you throw the WB ranch demise in at the end. RIP Mr. Cassidy, and soon: RIP Morning Glory Circle. I know a life is more important than real estate, but that real estate touched so many people in so many ways. Thanx Scott for the vid. Take care.
@carolynking16252 жыл бұрын
The real estate touched us, but life goes on and hanging on to the place because of memories doesn't make sense I say as I try to clear out memories in my late parent's house. I wouldn't have the heart to knock down that place! But it would only be collecting dust and cluttering space as the junk in this house I can't throw away is doing!

A phenomenon of the 70s heart-throb generation and he was adored by millions across the globe. At his peak, David Cassidy was the world's highest paid live entertainer, and his official fan club was the largest in pop history -- exceeding that of Elvis Presley and The Beatles. So?....... its futile (if not grossly ignorant) to try and imply that he wasn't hugely relevant or talented. Quite simply. He was. He was also a gifted musician, playing the following instruments: Guitar Piano Drums Clarinet (He started learning when he was 8 years old.) Many of the 'so called' world class music artists of today (and that's what David most definitely WAS during HIS lifetime) can't even play one instrument (let alone how many David could). Nor can they read music, or write their own lyrics or perform without the tricks being created for them in the music studio. In comparison, and in my opinion, 'talented' isn't a descriptive I would use for so called music performers/artists today!) David Cassidy was, and will remain, a hugely talented artist. Absolutely relevant in the history of popular music, a genuinely GREAT entertainer, both loved and adored by millions. RIP David and God Bless you ❤ 🎼🎤🎸🎶❤
