Im born and raised in Hawaii.. thank you Zach for bringing some awareness to the cultural issues with the Dan trip to Hawaii. There have been instances that tourists have tried to burn things in the lava flow and the locals are always upset about this. It’s just not a good idea for content. Also it’s important to say rn the locals and especially native Hawaiians are being priced out of Hawaii. We are losing land and homes to people from the mainland and it’s really sad that we are loosing our local population… tensions are high and this would be insult to injury, especially in lieu of the fires that happened in Lahaina.

Exactly! I was fortunate enough to live in Hawaii for a few years & it’s not to be messed with! I think there’s a book called “Letters to a postman” about all the horror stories. I also felt it was respect to their heritage. Since their land was taken away from them you shouldn’t take from the active creator of the land!
