I am late to the party again, but if you listen, David Gilmour was more than willing to compromise. I have nothing against Roger Waters, he is a conceptual, lyrical master, he just wasn’t willing to compromise, hence here we are! Every member of Pink Floyd made significant contributions to their overall sound and success. The rub comes when we pick sides. We have our opinions, but I think we can all agree Pink Floyd was, is and will always be, the best, most cerebral, emotionally evoking band of all time. I have personally enjoyed all forms of Pink Floyd and each member’s solo career.

Yup! "Is there anything that you don't want to talk about?" David: "Nope. We can talk about anything that you like." THAT is one of the MANY things about David that I love!! He's accommodating, modest, soft spoken, and just pleasant, as well as mega talented ...and gorgeous! 😍😍❤❤

In the early 1980s nuclear annihilation was en vogue in popular culture, so Gilmour is following contemporary trends, but he was never a words man like Waters, and that is why they made such a good partnership. Waters had concepts, and Gilmour could make them musically listenable.

I did a lot of Coke in my day, and I never sounded or looked like this! I would talk VERY fast and nervously and smoke one cigarette after another, on a few occasions more than one at a time! Maybe David speaks even slower in other interviews, but he seems very collected and thoughtful here, if not a bit annoyed. If it's true that there is a kind of hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way to David's responses here, that would make sense....more or less the same questions. Whenever I have heard him speak, he seemed very patient. It is not an enthralling interview, but I think its slow and Almost Boring Pace allows David to maintain his Focus and expand on his thoughts, as best as possible. He always seems to be a very measured fellow conversationally. I don't think I've ever heard him sound spontaneous and off-the-cuff. So I'm not sure he's coked-up, although some of you here seem to think he is. Why? Other than the fact that perhaps he liked Coke and surely was able to afford it! That's probably why I didn't have a heart explosion during the 80s...because I couldn't afford enough cocaine to do that! I tried my best, though!!!

Synergy cannot be replicated or duplicated. Roger definitely has the vision to create illustrative concepts and story lines with a very distinctive style but let's face the fact that Dave is the superior musician and has the ability to work coherently with Nick and Rick, or anyone else with other bands to create unmatched arrangements which utilizes multiple genres of music and styles. Each 1 of his solo albums have a very distinct ambience or feeling. Sorry but Roger seems bitter, cold and lacks empathy in his older years. Whether you love Floyd in it's original formation with Syd at the wheel or when Dave was brought in shortly thereafter. We can all agree their prodigious catalogue of music will never be surpassed. Add Nick's hypnotic drum style and Rick's ethereal soundscapes, music, reality and limits begin to blur to an endless possibility of beauty, madness and slight optimism. Regardless of the lame arguments over Dave vs. Rog, I adore Pink Floyd in all their glorious incarnations. Born in 71, listening to them even before I was born.

It’s ashame that as much as roger waters was an amazing innovator of concept albums and lyrical genius, he’s also a despot and a megalomaniac and always will be. I don’t blame Gilmour for not wanting to do a pink Floyd reunion tour or have Roger waters have access to the pink Floyd website, Roger was the one who tried to destroy that for the other members, and I suspect that Gilmour knows the way waters work and just doesn’t need the headache or hassle at this stage of his life. Grateful for all that we got from pink Floyd though!!
