I will never understand why DJ is not considered one of America's greatest rockers. He was and is everything a rock star should be-the look, the voice, the charisma and the songs. So the DJ band in the late 70's in England. Just killed it!

Because US radio was ruined by fizzled out Boomer hippies who sold out to huge media corporations, resulting in decades of the least imaginative radio programming on earth. In the 70s -90s, no radio play meant no exposure.

The band is great but seeing David Johansen with Max Weinberg behind him in the driver's seat is amazing.

Still doing it though! Talented dude. The New York Dolls and The MC5 should be no brainers for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They each influenced so many already in there.

The NyD wonderful band, inspirational. DJ sheer brilliant, Sylv was superb, Arthur fabulous, Johnny T, brilliant, Steve Conte (later) pure brilliance. So much talent. Trend setters.

G’damn! This was a fire performance! Now it makes me wonder why they never added a brass section to their reunion tour.

I think this is pure karaoke shit. What made this song was Johnny Thunders’ lyrics and his snarling, raging guitar. There’s no “I” in team. The Dolls were five guys not just David Johansen.
@jonnuanez71836 ай бұрын
This is a one off TV appearance with someone else's band, not his touring mates. And the focus here is, um, David Johansen and they all know that and are just there to have a great time blasting through a 3 chord song. That's really it.

Ugh. I saw this band maybe 50 times and Tony Machine played circles around Weinberg. Weinberg has zero feel.
@bobsahutsky9680 Жыл бұрын
He did ok for a guy who's sitting in for just a single performance though. Also, I'm not a Weinberg fan but it could have been worse. I like when I come across recordings of the Dolls from 75-76, I think it's kind of neat being able to hear stuff from that lineup of the band. Tony Machine is great but I also love Jerry Nolan's drumming. Check this out if you haven't heard it before. Heck, maybe you were at this show. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4DToICGjphnask

Too bad the guitar player with the double cut Les Paul wasn’t a clean and sober Johnny Thunders reunited with David on Conan. 😢😢
