David Lee Murphy wrote this song at his kitchen table and his producers knew it was a hit. He went in and recorded it and they put it on his first album "Out With a Bang" It went to #1. It is an original song. He still sounds exactly as he did on this record.

It's me. Though, with me, it's an intentional thing. I prefer to be underestimated, so, even though I have very expensive clothing hanging in the closet, I will usually intentionally under-dress for any given occasion. This is a great song. I’m from west Texas and one time in the 90s I was traveling with my young daughters through Missouri and saw where he was going to be singing in a county fair so we went just to hear him sing.

I always loved his voice. My favorite song/video of his is "The Road You Leave Behind". I always felt he was underrated in a lot of ways, which seemed to have happened to a lot of country artist during the 90's. Quite a few really talented acts got lost in the shuffle.
@TimedRevolver2 жыл бұрын
It's a blessing and a curse. There were an insane number of really talented singers in the 90's, no matter the genre. But because of that, so many got lost in the shuffle of popularity and constantly shuffling in new singers.
@greeneyelove20032 жыл бұрын
@@TimedRevolver Exactly. I have been listening to a lot of country from the 90's lately and I am amazed by the singers that just sort of disappeared after a few songs when they should have had long standing careers. Michelle Wright is one that comes to mind.
