Uhh, with all due respect I don’t think so actually. But then I’m biased because I’m a guitar player who picked up the instrument in 1979 because of watching Ed play eruption onstage in London… Although I would admit to be fair to him that in the late 1970 s and right thru the 1980s DLR was the most colourful, insane, physically kinetic, and most entertaining wild frontman in rock music. All the other hair band clones who tried to imitate him afterwards resembled his dwarfs running around his feet in imitator stage costumes. And it was funny watching them trying to be as athletic as him because they would fall over trying to compete with him like that singer from Poison did..…lol…And DLR would always offend the British Rock press at live gigs which was always delightful because they could be so elitist and pompous….They would come to VH gigs expecting grandiose political statements from singers thinking they were ‘Martin Luther King’ and they would get stuff like -‘Michael Jackson ain’t SH*T on heavy metal baby’ !,,,lol….or ‘Let me hear everybody say YEAH’ ! (Donnington) -‘YEAH ‘ !!! ….DLR - ‘let me hear everybody say SHIAT’ ! …(Donnington) - ‘SHIAT’ !! …DLR - ‘let me hear everybody say wELL F*CK’ !…‘WELL F*CK’ !!!…dlr - ‘there, you feel a lot BETTER now don’t you’ ?…lol…And the collars of the British rock press would tighten, and in the columns in NME and Sounds you could feel the steam coming out of their ears,…lol

Recently naming my novation summit “Eddie Van Halen” after he passed. I cried. I was born in 76 and by the mid 80’s 1984 and 5150 made it into my Walkman via tapes from a Spanish market. My little ears soaked up those vibes and developed a love for both albums. You are indeed erudite as Dave had a swagger and style that was off the wall and walked the walk like the trail blazer he is. Yet I believe it’s how he talked the talk that no one, not even Elons genius and Witt could out Dave , Dave. I love Eddie, we all love Eddie. He’s not someone you can copy. Even the best can’t out Eddie , Eddie. You know , some friends of mine seen Dave in an interview and nog being nearly the VH fan I am were under the impression that they were breaking news to me that DLR had completely gone off the deep end , and they said he had facial nerve damage and was a lost cause . I caught the very interview they did and after seeing it I informed them that Dave was fine. Told them they just haven’t been there the whole time and that Dave half thd time doesn’t make sense when he is interviewed and that his eyebrows had always bounced all over the place ! I said , he hasn’t changed a bit and never will !
