About the beginning of the video: The MTV Video Awards had really taken off, and many artists were adding acted clips to the beginning and/or ends of their videos. It got them more airtime on both MTV and the radio, and if you won an award, even better. David Lee Roth and Michael Jackson were very good at this, and others took their cues from them, and other avant-garde musicians. It was so much fun to watch it all come to life. 🤘💖

The song is about the statue of liberty... The intro was his satirical take on the melting pot that is America. You should have seen the tour. It was 2 hours of this and every band member is still burning calories for the INSANE physical theatrics they were doing. Steve and Dave didn't stop running, hopping, gyrating... Steve is throwing his guitar so high up in the air that you're like "omg that's getting dropped"... It was so energetic.
