David Lynch, founder of the David Lynch Foundation interviews Moby about music and creativity. This interview took place in New York, at Radio City Hall.
Two minute transcription: David Lynch: Now Moby, do you have a new album coming out?
Moby: Yes
And what is the name of this new album?
Moby: I am putting out an album on June 30th and it is called Wait For Me. And, in a round about way, that you might not be aware of, you are actually involved in the record. Because I heard you speak at Bafta about fourteen of fifteen months ago for David Lynch Foundation Television.
David Lynch: I remember that
Moby: You were talking about creativity. I am going to paraphrase. But, you said something to effect of... "creativity in and of itself is fine and beautiful." Hearing you say that creativity is beautiful, it just struck me like an epiphany. I was like he is right. Creativity in and of itself is great, and our lives should be spent in service of making great art, not accommodating the market place. So, in making this record I just wanted to try and make something beautiful and emotional and melodic. I don't know if I have accomplished that, but those were my intentions.
David Lynch: I have heard a couple of those pieces and they are really thrilling.
Moby: Oh thanks
David Lynch: Did you send a piece over to me one time?
Moby: Yeah, every now and then I will be working on music. And, there will be something in the music that presumptuously I think you might like. So, with bandwidth being what it is, I 'll send you a song and I figure if you have some free time you want to listen to it, maybe you might like it. So I sent you a few things and you very kindly (I can't even call it a video)... I can say I wrote a piece of music and you made visuals for it. Its animated and it is wonderful, and it is a narrative too.

These are 2 people that inspire me, and I love their art! I've gotten to meet Moby (and video a brief piece with him, plus was granted permission to use one of his tracks for a charity video I made via Moby Gratis), and I hope I can meet David Lynch one day soon, too.
