The "one and only big budget movie" in Lynch's career that MacLachlan is talking about is Dune. Blue Velvet was regular budget in comparison.

I think when Maclachlan referred to Lynch's 'first and last big budget movie' he was speaking of Dune (1984), not Blue velvet (1986). Enjoyed the clip, nice to find so many reactions from folks I've been thinking about compiled into one clip.

After hearing David Lynch had passed, I just finished watching Mulholland Drive, first saw it at the cinema 24 years ago. Will be revisiting Wild At Heart next, with a glass of red wine to celebrate his great life. Godspeed to a unique man.

I watched Mulholland Drive last night. I easily put together my Top 5 Lynch list, and it was #2. Wild at Heart, your next return, will always be my #1, my favorite of his and in my Top 10 of all time list. I tell people that if they want to understand me, take a glimpse into my heart, watch the scene in the desert when Lula is disgusted by the car radio news noise and pulls the car over and wakes Sailor to 'Get me some music on that radio this instant I mean it!' and they mosh to Powermad before a perfect desert sunset and embrace as the music changes to Im Abendrot.

Have to admit, Naomi Watts earned an instant level of respect for working on Mulholland Drive and giving herself over to that role. I don't know if it was an Oscar winning performance, but looking back, just being there was kind of like getting an Oscar. That movie was strange as hell, but admirable. A true Hollywood dark fantasy.

this Graeme fella is pretty smart and I'm pretty sure he did the Blue Velvet / Dune thing on purpose. after all, this is an engagement post on an engagement channel and it's an obvious way to boost engagement. a lot of people are gonna bring it up. I don't know if regular people know how much manipulation goes into "content creation" I work in a post production facility and we are constantly working with filmmakers. real movies and independent producers used to be our main clientele.... but now we also deal with regular people and their "content"... let me tell you. it used to be the true independent filmmakers were the most conniving (in a good way) they are like magicians. how they pull some things off is mind-blowing. but this new brand of content creators are driven only by engagement..... some of their approaches are slimy, but I have to give it up to 'em. what do they call it? the hustle. it bring manipulation to a whole new level. did anyone bring it up? oh my, it's every third comment. hat's off sir.....
