I like the idea of Moyes finishing our time at Goodison and moving to BMD and will have support from senior players and most fans.. Just hope he can shake up the squad and style like his impact first time around - and get us back to the heady heights of 7/8th every season..😅

Hammers ⚒ fan here. I liked Moyes at our club and he got us to our best level in recent history. We did become defensive and hard to watch, but he ultimately got us multiple European finishes and a European trophy we'll never forget. For me, results are the ultimate test of a manager's quality; style is secondary. I think EFC will become a lot harder to beat, I think you'll become competitive and potentially even push on for higher honours.

In addition to results I'd add a disclaimer concerning a club's size/stature/expectations. For your club, I'd say European qualification is a realistic target. Other clubs with more limited resources may have more modest ambitions.

I know WHU were good to watch in the 60's with Hurst, Moore, Peters etc but apart from one FA Cup I remember them being mainly a mid-table side under Ron Greenwood. If David Moyes was winning games and a European trophy how can they bad to watch? Any win is a good win. Too many clubs think all managers should be like Pep but most clubs just want survival and a bit of success now and again.

Apart from the covid season which was an anomaly,the league form and style were depressingly poor which resulted in a relegation fight the europa year,and the europa masked what was actually going on , I’m affraid he’s been left behind with todays football it’s supposed to be a release from the weekly grind not make you look forward to going back to work on a Monday , I look forward to to the negative comments a few games from now I hope I’m wrong for you all ⚒️

@zoothornrollo9960 I agree. Unless we get some serious investment, staying in the Prem, any sort of cup run and the (very) occasional trophy win is about as good as it's going to get. Leicester winning the title was an anomaly and City and Chelsea's rise was only possible due to an utterly obscene investment.

Moyes wouldn't have been my first choice BUT 100% understand the WHYs behind it and I do believe he'll steer us away from relegation. I also think he'll give us the stability we need over the next couple of years. Then, maybe, we can look to take the next step forward. Yes, he was an arse when he left, but we're all a decade older and wiser now. All that matters is today...👍

Moyes will be given funds if you look at what The Friedkin Group has done with Roma they have always made funds available, not as much as Roma fans would have liked it at times, but funds have always been made available to mangers under their ownership. The club just needs to get through this season, stay up & move into the new stadium & things will slowly but surely start to change for the club. The new stadium when the club has been in it for 6 months will start to be a game changer for Everton because of the none match day review it will generate that simply is not there now at Goodison Park. I would be looking to in time get to the level Aston Villa, for example, is now that it's got to be the goal as of 6 months into next season but one step at a time. Funds will be available in this window, but how much is the big question I think the club will look to bring in between 4 to 5 players before the window closes again expect things to start moving rapidly buy early next week in the transfermarket.

As a hammer I followed everything that Moyes did for years. He cares. Football is his life, he’s first in and last home every day. His players need to be extremely fit and dedicated. He’s a good man manager and picks his top 11 but doesn’t rotate or use subs much. He’s old school. His favourite manager is Jose Mourinho so the defence must be absolutely solid. Possession will be low and you’ll score on the counter. He is David Moyes OBE and his dad must be so proud. He will be relishing this challenge. He will succeed.

I was one of the West Ham fans who would rather Moyes had stayed on. Did remarkably well for us. Not appreciated by many fans. He's not the most exciting manager as you guys know but he gives you stability, he cares and he works incredibly hard. A great judge of player, both ability and temperament. I'm really pleased to see him back in football at a good club and one he'll feel at home in. Good luck for the rest of the season.

“Creating a foundation” is the most important part of TFG’s statement. We need someone who has experience rebuilding a club and that’s where Moyes trumps the potters and fonsecas of the world. There’ll be a time for the ambitious appointments. UTFT 💙

Agreed but how are Potter and Fonseca "ambitious" appointments? Fonseca has achieved next to nothing in his career. Potter done a really good job at Ostersunds and Brighton and that's it really. I really don't get this fascination with Fonseca. He's done nothing. Very, very strange.
@markperrett5450
@markperrett5450 14 күн бұрын
@ By ambitious I mean it’s ambitious of the club to expect a fonseca or potter to come in and completely overturn the squad and playing style from day 1, while expecting to get results. Moyes allows TFG to review every inch of the club and put each piece of the puzzle in place, starting with a CEO and DoF.

Absolutely ok with this. We needed a quick decision which TFG have done - that's probably the only the thing our fanbase will agree on. Thereafter you can't please everybody with who you choose. For me taking the last season at Goodison, and the first season(s) at BMD before handing over when it's the time to make a more progressive change in direction, is actually the best overall football and business decision...with a bit of romanticism thrown in for good measure.

I'm fully behind this, Moye's biggest downfall last time aside from just too long in the job, was his lack of cheque book, fingers crossed Moyes has a one this time. DELIGHTED with this appointment. I've always wanted Moyes back ever since he left. The club has fallen far away from what he built at Everton. So he comes back to hopefully put it all back together again. As far as i can remember, Everton were finishing 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th over a 10 year period. Everton have got nowhere near those levels since. Not interested in all this "style of play" business. I don't remember football fans criticising Alex Ferguson when he was winning every trophy going for 20 years at Manchester United. He played WINNING football. Everbody wants to be entertained but it's about results. And Everton played some great stuff under Moyes. His recruitment is fantastic (which is the main reason why Everton finds itself in it's current predicament). He had no money really but when he did he signed players for next to nothing i.e Howard, Baines, Jagielka, Lescott, Cahill, Arteta, Pienaar to name but a few. Finally...his work at West Ham was impressive. Achieved 2 top 7 finishes which West Ham had never done in their history. 3 european campaigns in succession. Again, a first for West Ham. A Europa League semi final. Then WINNING the Conference Final the next year, their first major trophy in 43 years. One of THE games underrated managers. A GREAT appointment. I'm made up.

As a millennial, I've been an Everton fan since the early 90's but the Moyes era was the time I look at most fondly (besides Martinez's first season, which arguably owed a lot to the work of Moyes). Despite the frustrations I had at times with Moyes, he made Everton into a club that was respected in the league, that recruited some of the most envied and well liked players, with solid foundations. The man got the club and the fans, and I think even Moyes's critics would give him that. We've had manager and manager who have only been at the club for a paycheck or have done nothing to endear themselves to the fans. I'm actually happy to have Moyes back. And to be honest, I would have had him back, if we could have had him, years ago. We've been bouncing from manager to manager since Martinez and I'm looking forward to some stability and steady progress. I hope Moyes can achieve that.

9 top eight finishes under Moyes out of 11 seasons he was with us. So he consistently finished in the top eight of the Premier League, including a fourth-place finish in 2004-05, which took us into Champions League qualifying. Moyes also reached the FA Cup final in 2009. He is the third longest serving premiership manager behind Ferguson and Wenger. He is Everton through and through only moving on because the owners couldn’t provide the finances that Utd offered. He knows the club inside out championed the People’s Club culture. What’s not to like? Look at the managers we have paid fortunes for since Moyes most of whom ended up sacked.

Lads, West Ham fan here, you may want to rename your new stadium Jurassic Park 😉 I don’t see Moyes as an upgrade on Dyche tbh, very similar tactics and he wasted an awful lot of money at West Ham, not sure how much you have to spend but he had 500mil at us over 4 years and left us with the smallest and oldest squad in the Prem. He did win us a trophy though, so it wasn’t all bad. He’ll probably keep you up but I doubt it will be better than Dyche. Also hes still dithering Dave and you have 3 weeks of the window, good luck 😉

It's a great appointment to bring stability back to the club and also to rebuild this squad. Just remember we have a lot of players out of contract in the summer. Time for us to all unite and get behind Moyes & TFG.

If we were mid table, comfortable amd looking to push on in a new direction, then Moyes would probably not be the man. However, we are in a very dangerous position so having Moyes come in makes complete sense. Hopefully he can keep us safe and we can have a positive transition into the new stadium. I'm fully behind him as all Blues should be, forget the past and let's unite together.

Hopefully Moysie plays 2 up front, that'll give us a much better chance of scoring straight off! if we played 3-5-2 we could have Ndaiye behind Beto and DCL...

As a Liverpool fan, I think it’s a good appointment. Crying out for a younger and more attacking manager in a couple of years once safe and into the new stadium.

Moyes will have been doing his homework on players who can hit the ground running so I trust he will get fresh legs in and get the results we so dearly need. COYB

Quick move from TFG, right appointment in my opinion, and not playing a game with an interim manager - I’m excited. Take me back to 2008

Wise decision, limited time, he gets a tune out of average players, and we got loads of them. He is a good manager, we need to get behind him if we like him or not, i'd have had him after the awful Koeman
