Mr. Piper looks like one of those old boys out of classic film ‘Those magnificent men in their flying machines’ 😂 The distinguished old fellow paid his dues heavily during the hippy golden era of endurance racing, losing part of a leg in 1970 during the filming of Le Mans. The end of his racing career 50 years ago, and the beginning of a new one, what a character.

I used to work for a garage in Camberley Surrey called Eddie Bennett Engineering and David Piper used to come the garage..he was a friend of the boss..I remember going round David Pipers house to pick up parts for a Ferrari we were working on..at the time I didn’t know who David, Eddie did tell me at the time that David had a big accident at Le Man 24 in which he lost his leg.. the accident I think happened during the filming of the Steve McQueen film Le Man 24.

Jackie Stewart didn't drive the P4 for David McKay, he drove David's 250 LM in Surfers Paradise 12 Hour race. The P4 was driven by Chris Amon though in the 12 Hour race it was driven by Bill Brown.
