De dice que David tiene la mejor técnica de guitarra clásica, por demás también es considerado por muchos como el mejor guitarrista del mundo. Yo lo creo así. Su técnica y su gran maestría, otros músicos no la tienen.

@@Cyrus_II Attacking? No, I asked him if he could please show some gratitude for this even being in existence. he (Russel) didn't record it, and likely did not oversee the recording, just allowed it...The stick you speak of seems to be firmly stuck up your rectum. And the word 'properly' is just an assumption that everyone has the same standard requirements...Many people want to nit pick about things that don't have the highest pixel viewing quality with today's sonic re-mastering, when at the time of this footage, the technical quality did not exist. Get the stick out of your ass and re-master it( you may have to apply for a licence, or make a disclaimer if you re-post it) if you and Angelo require 'proper' sonic and viewing excellence.

Has anyone ever played it the way it was composed, or is it all done the way Segovia re-arranged it!?!
@MrCoolcat33310 жыл бұрын
late reply but I play the 2006 A. Gilardino version published by Ricordi but added a few revision from the Segovia edition. The 'vivavce e ritmico' part (starting at 2:33) is just so damn hard the way he composed it and in order, at least for me, to play it cleanly I had to slow down the tempo too much. So I mixed and matched from the editions as I did in one or two other instances. Out of respect for David Russell I'm not going to post a direct link to my performance of this version, if only because he plays it much better then I do ;). But, if you're interested you can go to my channel and find it somewhere among all the videos I make that no one watches haha ;). Segovia had some ingenious ideas with his editing, but also some questionable ones. The only one I think that is completely unnecessary is when Mario-Castelnuovo modulates to g-minor in the tremolo part. Segovia substitutes a low G (tonic) pedal with a low D (dominant) pedal but the G pedal is completely playable. This piece is like 80%of the time in d-minor and D-major and it is nice to alter the d as the fundamental note. Furthermore, since the low d has been so prominent in this very tonal piece and you're modulating for the first time to an 'interesting' key the G is definitely needed to establish the modulation. Because with the low d then going to the low e-flat you never had the tonic in the bass of a chord during the entire section. He than also modulates from g-minor to the relative major ( Bb-Major) which gives the G even more credibility. Anyway... I could talk about this piece for hours but this has ended up way too nerdy already haha, but hope it was of some help/interest.

great analysis, this master piece of music may reserved for those master who played it in every program of recital. It was a good Spanish feel music. especially when Segovia played this music on his CD when I first heard it. Mind blowing experience

The thing is, for generations of guitarists Segovia was and is the reference, and so his work is more than adequate for many players even today. Also, I think he had pressure on him to arrange a piece, make it playable for the guitar, practice it, and then perform for audiences around the world so cut him a little slack if he messes with the compositions, I'm sure I didn't always enjoy sacrificing elements of the music he was arranging because of the limitations of the guitar. With that said, if anyone plays Segovia arranged pieces as they were written and meant to sound by the composer, I want to hear it. Maybe the answer is to have more players turning to guitars with 8 or 10 or more strings. That might help with some of the less than ideal discrepancies in music arranged for guitar?
@stddisclaimer80202 жыл бұрын
The composer was not a guitarist and thus wrote without a solid grasp of what is playable on the instrument and what is not. Segovia edited the piece adroitly, that it might conform to its original and appropriate title, with no need to dub it: "Capriccio Impossible."
@MrDizzyvonclutch2 жыл бұрын
@@stddisclaimer8020 not true, I have the original... it’s perfectly doable. Deficits just didn’t want to do it. lol Deficits did have a pretty cool way of changing things to make them way easier, in some situations they sound better I suppose. Some of the things composed by those pianist were impossible also, I will give you that. Segovia said, “..... They make me laugh, he he he.”. When he was interviewed by.. I think it was Christopher Nupen ...

It's a recording from many years ago (look at how young David was in this video) when recording technology was young and imperfect. This was also done in performance rather than studio where sound pick up is even less controlled. I agree that this is about the level of the recordings done at Woodstock. This year The Guitar Foundation of America was held virtually so all the contestants recorded at home. One of the finalists, Alan Liu from Canada, did this piece and just about as well as David (yes, I know; blasphemy;-D, but true. For proof and a great musical experience, go to youtube and ask for the GFA 2020 Virtual Convention Day 7/ senior finalists. Alan's performance is just a little past 1 hour 35 minutes). But my point is that just about any recording equipment today does a much better job than this one was . It's just progress vs 'ancient' history, Guys.
