It’s its own special underrated talent. I’ll totally binge David Spade interviews. I think he undersells himself comparing to other types of comedians when they’re not nearly as funny in the same way as he is.

I agree. I always like his standup, but in interviews, or really conversations with just about anyone, he is hilarious. He is hysterically funny on Ellen, for example. And he's really good on Howard Stern, too, possibly Howard's funniest guest ever.

Spade is effortlessly funny. His throwaway lines here, as well as most other p[laces, are the best. Maher is always talking to people as if they're stupid. Always referencing his past statements and jokes, reminding people how clever he is. Always trying to lead or prompt his guests into making derogatory judgments about his own favorite targets. Most don't indulge him though. When he is on, I think he is funny, but he tends to want to beat a dead horse.

So true. What made this night different was that neither of them have been married and it's just the way it is. The way it happened or didn't happen. So I think this night when they spoke, Bill didn't feel like somehow he was left behind or left out or missed the boat because they were both in the same boat and they were content and maybe more content than the married guy who comes on; talks about his kids; talks about his wife. But they could just just talk and just be and it's peaceful and that's nice.

@G-Talksif either Bill or David wanted to be married then, now whatever they would be. It is misogyny when we KEEP discussing why a woman would NOT wish to be married (for whatever reason) ultimately defined as wife. Their relationship status is not that interesting or insightful in 2023. They are confident in their skin! That is Attractive in all humans. I am fairly sure that they are aware they are single & they are fine with it. Why does it matter; except as common denominator in judgment. Lives well lived imo! Peace ✌️

I've always thought Spade was very funny and enjoyed his Stand-Up. In the last decade or so, watching the different iterations of shows with his namesake, along with watching his talk show appearances (especially Ellen and Norm) and listening to the FOTW podcast , I've come to the conclusion that I've moved David Spade comfortably into my top 5 favorite comedy minds/funniest people. He's a top-tier Stand-Up. He has some of the best comedic timing and one of the best comedic actors. AND he is naturally hilarious, witty, and incredibly quick. Most funny people have either one or two of those qualities but not all three. Spadoodle has 'em all! "Push in" at 2:15 is one of many examples of how effortlessly he can lob a quick comedic grenade into the mix and obliterate the scene for a bit leaving Maher and others in the room I'd expect, humorously incapacitated. I've always thought Spade has been underrated. He's so damn funny. And he's a good and honest guy. People over the years always talk about all the HOT women he's dated. And how did he get them? He did because he's a funny and good guy. Most people don't think about nice guys. They think, hot female, dating hot guy. But Spade has always been underrated and overlooked. One of the funniest guys of all time.

Is it just me or does bill give off the vibes of being deeply insecure about his decision to not get married? Idk it just seems like it’s a 10 minute convo with every guest and he’s a bit too opinionated to ‘not care’

I was thinking the exact same thing. Waiting for a married guest to call him out on it. I knew two lifelong bachelor's who did the same thing in their 60's, not necessarily regretful of their decisions but began to question them a little. I am sure that many married men question their decisions as well.

Every comment section we all have said this because it's baffling that he does it to that degree every single time. But yeah, something is definitely up with it. He strikes me as defensive about it and it annoys him because he imagines people thinking there's something wrong with him because of it.

I think when you go through those low moments and come back stronger you have a marriage worth having. Nobody's gotta get married on my advice, but I'd rather fight for love than be devoid of it for segments of this life.

Haha I worked at Bar 1 and I'm apart of a Facebook private group chat with old employees from bar 1 from the 90s ( this club was the IT CLUB ) at this time and WE ALL HAVE GREAT STORIES LIKE THIS , this is so going up on the group thread and I'm pretty sure I'm 100 percent I know the door guy who didn't let him in ! He was notorious for not letting people in ! This is soooo funny !!!!!

ok only a few minutes in but holy cow Bill must have read the comments about Dreyfuss slithering to the floor for the whole hour. Complete opposite, straight back chair and no pillows But Spade sitting close enough to strap a lie detector machine on him

It's got nothing to do with that episode. Spade has well-known bad back issues, which he's talked about publicly and in one of his books (stemming from a highschool stage accident). That's why he's often sitting with a leg underneath if the chair doesn't fit well when he does interviews. Bill was being a thoughtful host, using chairs in which Spade could sit more comfortably ahd longer for a good conversation.

I'm so humbled as I realized he would be the very person that I wish I could talk to about so many things if I were friends with him....just the most down-to-earth guy..... So, thing about Spade is....I can see why he gets as many women as he does. He's almost 60 and still a pretty attractive, good looking guy, actually. Definitely handsome in his younger days on SNL also. He's hilarious....which, guys being funny is REALLY important in finding them attractive, it is to me, anyway, lol. And he's just so cool and chill. He's not an overpowering, "macho" dude who would be an abusive prick. Seems like he has a sensitive demeanor also with just the right amount of sarcasm, but he's not a jerk at all. He's just awesome ☺️
