I don't understand people's hatred towards Steven Moffat. He is a brilliant writer, and while he has his flaws, he is still a great writer for the show. Some of the best episodes of the new series were written by him, such as "Silence In The Library" and "Blink".

(Sorry, I know you wrote this comment forever ago) Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love his writing. Blink and Silence in the Library are two(well three) of my favorites. But with him as the show runner, I didn’t like the intensity of the plots he tried to pursue all the time. I just wanted the fun, slightly scary adventures, not the moody doctor! But despite this, I still think he’s great as a writer(and not too bad with Sherlock either 😋)

Moffat, you will forever inspire me, thank you so much for all the fantastic work you have done on Doctor Who and other projects! I understand the level of pressure that writing such a show would have on your shoulders, especially this year. I would love to tell you in person your work is much appreciated, and these 'haters' are in the minority. Hats off to the Moff everyone!

@krimzonvillain Yeah. Usually when he loses control, it's in anger or frustration. It's very rare to see him literally fearing for his life without being able to even try to fight back. The fear in his eyes when he's unable to even control what he says is...wow. It was really Tennant's shining moment as an actor in that show for me.

1. it was a response to TheeFreakiishlyz who said david was only in for a year, at no point did i say he was the longest running. and i agreed with his point after all. 2. I dont remember all this omg i love you christopher plz dont go when eccelston announced he was leaving. My point is that David had much longer than Chris, and that has let him get to know the role, and we are used to him. And that is why people are so sad to see him go.

@krimzonvillain Unfortunately, that endless hope is extremely unrealistic. That's just it, though: in every other episode, the creatures are evil and the humans are good, but none of it is likely to happen in real life. In Midnight, the people are the evil ones, and their reactions to subtle pressures are so over-the-top, yet so shockingly realistic, that it should scare the crap out of you to realize people are really like that. Overall, Teannant's vulnerability in that episode made the show.

lol, don't worry. The main thing is that you are willing to get it right. My advice is to check that there is no apostrophe in a possessive (viz. my, your, his, her, its) unless it's a name or common noun. If there is, then something's wrong!

So was Tom Baker and Peter Davidson (especially Peter Davidson) the former who is now the most well-known Doctor of all time and the latter who is the inspiration for modern Who-writers - give the man a chance, he's only a YEAR (uno) younger than Peter Davidson was when he started in the role

@IceMetalPunk I guess it depends if you're typically pessimistic or optimistic, though I don't think Doctor Who leaves much room for pessimism even in it's darkest episodes. One of the things that the Doctor lauds us for is our endless potential for hope and good, despite our flaws and fears. As for the evil creatures and good humans, that's not always the case. Doctor Who complicates concepts of pure good and pure evil on the part of both humans and aliens in the vast majority of its episodes.

@bexter2001 Yeah. My friend likes to count the times when a "magic reset button" is used (everything goes back to the way it was through something pulled out at the last minute, like going back in time a year at the end of season 3). I think he found 3 major examples in the End of Time alone. Still, there are some real gems of scriptwriting in the Who mix, and I have hopes for Mr Moffat.

@IceMetalPunk That episode left me feeling really angry. The Midnight Entity wasn't so much a scary villain as it was an unforgiving mirror of all the worst in people. Though it was a very interesting counterpoint to the Doctor's unwavering faith in humanity, the thing I love beyond anything else about Doctor Who is it's hopefulness, it's central thesis that people are essentially good. So I gotta say, not my favourite episode, though definitely a very very good one!

Difficulty with writing dr who in my opinion is there aren't enough limitations. The Dr can always get out of trouble with some science-fiction mumbo-jumbo, we all know it, so to create real suspense is tricky. Sometimes I felt Russell T Davies used the get-out-of-jail-with-magic-science-trick card a bit too often.

Hadn't said a word against McGann; just the DW film.He was quite good in The Monocled Mutineer, I've not followed his career. CE's tenure was one series, under the same writer you also feel was a "useless" writer. The RTD/ DT combination carried it through to the present. Not saying categorically ever story line was stellar, It is still a disservice to dismiss RTD's contribution. Had you stopped watching the programme, or have you been gnashing your teeth and wingeing for nearly 5 years?
