Watching now and I really don’t know how you/he does it. I think there is a LOT more not seen on camera. But the performance itself is so well executed. Love watching it and to believe that it’s possible to understand human psychology that well so as to be able to perform tricks like this.

Yeah indeed, it's like a sort of duality. What we see is a different reality from what they are experiencing. I bet that when you see the whole unedited process it's trivial to reverse engineer what is really happening but since we miss these key points because of the stuff that isn't shown, it's impossible to backtrack.

Go see him live. It’s an amazing experience. Or read his book on how he does this stuff.

@ when you see him live, the process can be seen and you can figure out the (magic) method. And it makes Derren is so much more lovable. He’s so jolly on stage. I like his stage shows so much more than his TV work. Especially those big production-which I find unethical at times. During one of the shows I was one of the faces in the “guess whom” card effect. I A silly simple magic trick, dressed up to perfection which made it a great presentation piece. They made a lot of fun about my unflattering photo 🤣 Suddenly I get a text from a colleague sitting in the theater: “you are here too, see you in the intermission!” 😬 My favorite effects of his are the newspaper prediction in I believe “something wicked this way comes” and the McFly song where the men stand in front of the signs egg, needle (the rest I forgot 😉). It’s such a classic effect. I’ve not seen Show Man, I am bummed about that. But 2025 a new tour so I’ll hop across the channel for that.
