Freddy's always been an intellectual. It just seems that since his appearances in the original Frasier series, that he's just become less like his dad, more like his granddad in terms of personality. The kid technically won an international spelling bee for example. Freddy has the brains of both his parents but has just chosen to take after his grandpa Martin more.

Absolutely love Freddie, who’s become the star of the show in recent episodes. Even funnier is Eve and Tiny’s reaction to Freddie’s magic trick at the end 😂

His comedic timing is on par with Kelsey grammar, and he shines very well when doing scenes with him. Whoever says the supporting cast isn’t good in this show is full of it. I’m really enjoying the new ensemble of characters Frasier has to contend with now.

Now I’m imagining drunk Freddy causing chaos around the station. Like, he claps his hands and the Dalmatian disappears in a puff of smoke and everyone is like “FREDDY, BRING THE DOG BACK! WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON’T REMEMBER HOW??”

I can't wait to watch this show in The UK. We get a lot of US imports on British tv. How I Met Your Mother is another good one, but Frasier is a pretty tough act to follow and it's still the top of the pile. I can't even think of any UK sitcoms that are as well written as Frasier.

I like the "drunk genius" B-story. If there are other seasons, I'd like to see this once a year. With that being said... (0:09) Anyone else catch the turn-around time on that new glass of beer? I'm pretty sure that's foreshadowing right there. (0:22) I get chessboard in the bar at Harvard. We had many at Yale. But what the hell is that book back there for? That's not going to be an expensive book in a room full of open containers and that's not going to be a useful book in a room full of acetaldehyde. (1:33) So, everyone loves the magician but it's the assistants who rock. Eve "pours" (the tap handle doesn't move) that "beer" at 0:04 and sets up Freddy. You can see him tipping the actually-empty glass of magic because it's so light prior to hiding it between his legs. Of course, she delivers the towel at 1:23 and that's how they make magic together. (see, now THAT'S foreshadowing)

The writing tries too hard yet misses. The old days of “Oh you Freudian’s, sometimes a ramrod is just a - oh I’m not even going to finish that.” And "Frasier is a Freudian but I am a jungian so there will be no blaming mommy and daddy today" Citing BF skinner might just be as heavy handed writing as freddie's fast drinking is. Except skinner is known most for dismissing ACEs. (I am no expert but I crave a high brow joke) The show plays on public misconception that college papers are just book summaries. Turning Free Will into a parlour game was maybe a nice try but they left me hanging. Even an SAT word drop would ease the cringe a little. maybe. Anyway, this is why the show misses. More Professor Corning, please.
@pnwguy008 ай бұрын
@@kellychuba honestly, I was thinking the same thing as you for weeks, but I really don't think the writing is that bad. the difference is the delivery. That "no blaming mommy and daddy today" isn't even that hilarious, it's the way David Hyde Pierce delivered it that was hysterical. If any of these new characters (other than maybe Alan) delivered that line it would fall deaf. I've given this theory a lot of thought over the last month lol the sharp wit delivery from the original is really missing.

@ronvlaarsvar68678 ай бұрын
@zxrj7744 Yeah he's a decent enough actor, wouldn't of had have done as British. More meant it as a comment on American sitcom coms in general. The case of Brooklyn Nine Nine have shown they are all good actors but there's an episode were they get into a drinking contest and it turns into Highschool play quality acting. Slightly slur and repeats words while not look straight seems to be the only direction

The acting is just so theatrical and too fake. They need to be more organic. The only good actor is Frasier on the show.
@JEFFK19638 ай бұрын
The actor who plays Freddie is better than many people may think. He is actually British, and when he is not playing the role of Freddie, he naturally speaks with an English accent. So I find his acting amazing because when he plays Freddie, he has absolutely no trace of his natural English accent at all. To him, he is evidently acting "in an American accent", but to me, as an American, I don't detect an accent at all when he plays Freddie. So that makes me believe that he is an excellent actor.
@nt69118 ай бұрын
@@JEFFK1963Interesting, I think maybe then he should be more himself and allow the British accent to come through alittle. Alot of The original Fraiser characters had that classy British tone and language, it's what made the show what it was.

I think the casting is just really bad too. I think the actor they chose for Freddy is just obnoxious. I can’t really reconcile this being Freddy and who the character was as a kid. Also, they really went full steam with “let’s portray the blue-collar firefighters as stereotypical dummies”. The whole premise of the show seems far too contrived. @adrastos761

I get that you don’t like the series, but remember that the original show dedicated plenty of episodes to non-Frasier characters like Martin, Roz, Daphne and Niles. This isn’t something new the writers are doing, to include the lives and drama of Frasier’s family.
