I have a technical question - if that is permitted. Turning the rear foot on the ball and pushing the heel backward - like during brush knee. I've seen some masters who do not turn the rear foot and some who do (as David does here). Is this an acceptable variation in technique? Or is it better to stick with one method?

Both variations are acceptable, in my opinion. However, you need to ensure that kua is loose and knee on back leg must be relaxed.

@@davidbaoyh Thank you. I've been following your expression of Yang tai ji for a few years and prefer the feel of pushing the heel back. Seems more natural.

His Taichi is nice but lady’s and gentlemen you need to find a teacher there is more to this than pretty movements. I.E. flexibility training, strength training, and breathing. Then you move on to the taolu. This will take six months to a year depending on age and ability. This video is great for the advanced individual for timing of movement and step movement and direction.
