FYI everyone - I called CISCO they said if you get your CCENT this year it will still be good for 3 years but to re-certify in 2022 you will need to get the new CCNA 200-301

The CCNP > CCIE path is what's really got me interested. Passed my ICND1 on June 7th and have my ICND2 scheduled for June 22nd. Going to attempt to brute-force study the CCNP RS before Feb 23rd as a personal challenge.

Congratulations on the CCENT Pass and all the best for ICND2! Go for it! If you can get your ROUTE & SWITCH before the cut off date you get the Enterprise Core. If you get your CCNP now, you will get the new CCNP. All the best!

Finish your ccna now and then pay more to cisco, just for the badges. Honestly i did my CCNA back in 2003, my best advise to learn and conquer. Also learn the concepts not cisco commands, don't concentrate on vendor. Try to focus on understanding the technologies.

I am confused. So if I have my CCNA route switch OR just a CCNA security, after February passes, I will automatically be granted the new CCNA no matter what track my past CCNAs were on?

@@rkmallesh5 Pluralsight, CBT Nuggets, Cybrary.it, CiscoPress Books, Boson.com (lab simulator and exam simulator) or a home lab and Boson's exam simulator because their exams are just as hard if not harder than the real thing. 6 months before it goes away. If you haven't started, good luck because you will need to burn the midnight oil EVERY DAY to finish. You have no time to waste if you want the certs before Feb 23. ROUTE + SWITCH = Core cert, TSHOOT = Specialty cert under the new standards.

@@davidbombal I feel like because they have eliminated CCENT all basics are put into new CCNA and the granularity of it has decreased from networking point of view. Apart from all the eliminations the only thing I genuinely feel like it's new is Network programmability part which also seems super informative but not very applicative. So I think I could be wrong but overall standard of CCNA R&S has decreased . It's just what I feel. You are the expert and I learn from you.

Hi David, I have CCNA R&S, expiring in SEP 2020. How long will the new batch be extended? is it going to be for another 3 years starting FEB 2020 or expire in SEP 2020?

Our certs will expire on their existing expiration dates. The expiration dates will NOT be extended in Feb. You can take the CCNA test before Feb 2020 and you won't have to take a new CCNA test for up to 3 years.

So I am working on my CCNA and after I get it in the next coming months, when February 2020 comes will I receive the new CCNA to learn that new material or will I have register for those classes and take them again? wouldn't that information I personally know be outdated from what i am certified for?

like automation and programmability i would be certified for , but wouldn't know much, would cisco let me study that with the "2nd" cert

Some people agree with you. I think you could pick up any missing technologies simply by spending some time on KZbin and DevNet. But, we shall see. You could also just study some of the DevNet associate content to overcome this issue and then work on getting the DevNet cert as well.

Thanks for this video David. I wanted to take the CCNA Sec exam but my CCNA expired last August. I passed my ICND1 last week and I'm planning to take the CCNA Sec exam soon. If I take it and pass the CCNA Sec exam, will I get a full CCNA come Feb 2020, or will it not count? Edit: I do plan to take ICND2 later, but I'm job hunting very soon and it'd be nice if I take the CCNA sec exam. Also the prerequisite for CCNA Sec is ICND1.

Hope you know R&S well because it will be needed. If you have a current CCNA anything it will be recognized with the new CCNA badge AND you will have the CCNA Security badge as well.

@@michaelhenry6712 Of course I understand what you mean. Any network admin's role will entail all the knowledge in both ICND1 and 2. It's just that if I plan to take CCNA Sec now, will there be any point in taking the ICND2 exam? Would just reviewing it be fine?

@@yauul You still need to have a firm grasp of the R&S content, neither exam is easy. R&S will be an easier option. At WGU, where I am working on my BSIT Network Operations and Security degree, we have to take the certification exams as our finals. My mentor informed me of people who are on their 3rd attempt of 4, trying to pass CCNA Security. The Cisco Press book is not up to date with the current required knowledge for the exam. Cisco had to add more content and push the passing score to 860/1000 because of people using dumps. I, myself am trying to decide to either push on and complete CCNA Security or do my last two classes, Emerging Technologies (paper) and Capstone and wait out the storm and see what happens. Regardless, I still have to do E.T. and Capstone. I passed my CCDA exam on the first trial earlier this year, but it left me so fried mentally I had to get help figuring if my pass score was higher or lower than my exam score. Struggled ever since and had to step away for a couple of months.
