most people don`t know this. he wrote this song for Mott The Hoople when he heard they were thinking about breaking up. he penned it in about 2 hours from what i have read. there are millions of people that can play guitar and there are millions of people that can sing. writing lyrics and music is what makes a legend. It's hard for me to believe that this song was released in 1972 I was totally born in the wrong time period. I grew up listening to the music from the 1960s-1970s because it was what my parents listened to so I did as well. It's a shame that music isn't like this anymore the rock bands of the 1970's where the Gods of music world whose music will live on for an eternity. Today's music doesn't have shit compared to The Rock Gods of the 70's
