Just FYI the little bolt on the fan housing is child protection and totaly optional. Also most of those fans work way better and more silent if you remove that fan blade cover thing altogether. IMHO they look nicer too then. (But that wont fly if you have kids or pets. ;) )

I have this fan but it won't open for cleaning. It feel like it's been wielded shut but it hasn't. Any tips?

The metal clips on the side can be quite stiff to open. Remember also the tiny screw right at the bottom. Unless you meant the actual motor housing??

I purchases this today STATUS brand 12" chrome. But it instructs to temove the clamp from stem and position over the hole of the base then refit the clamp? I'm confused bcoz it didn't need to be removed. Is there something I'm missing?

Shame it's doesn't have that vintage look to it like the Vornado Silver Swan www.amazon.com/Vornado-Silver-Alchemy-Vintage-Gunmetal/dp/B07SQH2CG8 and The Hunter Rockefeller desk fan vintage style www.amazon.co.uk/Hunter-90042-Rockefeller-Performance-Fan/dp/B0007GHNG6 i don't like the horribly looking Beldray logo on the front and what looks like a flimsy looking blade and the grill doesn't stand out vintage and the Beldray logo just ruins it for me.
